The Blue House B and B is a traditional Lakeland cottage with many of its original 17th Century features still on show. Set at the head of the Cartmel Valley the garden has wide open views out across to Morecambe Bay. Just 2 miles from the foot of Lake Windermere it is ideally placed for walking and site seeing.

The Blue House has been our family home for 30 years and we love sharing it with guests, plus helping visitors explore and discover the Lake District National Park - there are so many wonderful places, walks and adventures on our door step. Tina is a professional photographer, in addition to local weddings and family portraits she has photographed the Queen! Tim is a keen sailor and recently came first in a single-handed sailing race across the Atlantic.

Lake Windermere is just 2 miles along the road, where there are regular steamboat trips covering the full length of the lake. Cartmel is just 3 miles away - home of the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding and host to several excellent pubs, plus The Good Food Guide's number 1 restaurant: L'Enclume. There is an excellent, traditional pub within walking distance of The Blue House - The Crown at High Newton. Open fires, local beers and great food. And for the ultimate shopping experience, less than a mile along the road, is Yew Tree Barn - a huge barn with two floors of architectural antiques, local crafts, artisan craftsmen and the wonderful Harry's Cafe. Open 7 days a week it is definitely worth a visit.
