Situated within the picturesque Western Lake District National Park, The Old School and Betty's is an adults-only B&B featuring a garden and patio area with views of the nearby fells. Free on-site parking is also available to all guests. Views of the fells, rear garden or Wasdale Valley can be enjoyed from each room at The Old School and Betty’s, along with a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and an en suite power shower. The one-bedroom cottage also comes with a fully equipped kitchen. A full English or continental breakfast is served in the garden room and can be served outside in the warmer months. Guests also benefit from a 10% discount on food at a local pub and tearoom. Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking can all be enjoyed in the Lake District, and the nearest beach can be found 6 miles away in the ancient port of Ravenglass. The property has a beautiful setting on a quiet country lane. High-level walks can be taken in Wastwater and Wasdale Head, which are a 20-minute drive away.

We offer an early breakfast option for business guests working at Sellafield. We are located south of the site for easy access and less traffic. We offer very quiet, comfortable accommodation. Credit/Debit card facilities are available.
I love looking after my guests and making their stay as comfortable as possible. I love to cook breakfasts on my Aga with our delicious fresh local produce and bake my home made bread and cakes.
Our beautiful western Lake District has access to Scafell pike the highest mountain in England, Wastwater the deepest lake and also voted The “Best View in Britain”. The Wasdale mountain range is a great place to walk. We have the Ravenglass and Eskdale miniature railway which is a beautiful ride from Ravenglass to Eskdale. Muncaster Castle is a brilliant day out where you can also see an amazing Hawk show. Our favourite local “Real Ale” pub The Bower House Inn serves delicious home made “Real” food and has a beautiful garden. Our lovely local Woodlands Tearoom and gift shop is well worth a visit.
