Carved into the Cliff, right above the sea , is all you need when looking for an eclectic self-contained rental with maximum privacy and easy access to down town Fira. Definitely off the beaten path! You will be living inside the famous sea crater (Caldera) of Santorini amongst the ancient seafarers and their mermaid sirens. The location of this port is at the base of a 400 meter cliff and this makes it a beginner walking trail, for getting up and down to Fira by foot. We recommend taking the cable car (6 euro per way per person) from the old port up to the town of Fira and vice versa; for a more traditional way, someone could use the stairs, or make friends with the local Donkey/ Mules. Gialos, the old port of Fira in Santorini located just below the town of Fira, the capital of Santorini. It works mostly in summer and serves only the many cruise ships that arrive on the island, the excursion boats to volcano and Thirassia and few fishing boats. The downhill location of this port makes it tiring to get up and down Fira. This is why the most common way is to take the cable car from the old port up to the town of Fira. For a more traditional way, someone could use the stairs. Walking the route is about 20 min uphill. There are no cars in Old port. To get to the apartment, one can use the cable car or the famous Karavolades stairs.
