Perched on the 5th floor, this gorgeously renovated penthouse comes with sweeping city views and a weighty history. In the place of the elegant modernist building that it is located, there used to stand another - equally attractive – structure which was the work of Ernest Ziller: the fabled architect of the bourgeoisie who was the first to bring artificial ventilation and central heating to Greece, and who transformed 19th century Athens from a village into a European city, granting it the architectural identity and aesthetics that the capital of the new Greek state needed, while connecting it to its ancient past. Ziller’s building housed the residence of Charilaos Trikoupis, a leading political figure of the 19th century and one of the most important politicians of modern Greece. Trikoupis was prime minister seven times and associated his name with the effort to modernize the country. He dominated Greek politics for 19 years, from 1875 to 1894, serving as prime minister a total of seven times and ruling the country for nearly 10 of the 20 years in that period. It is perhaps no wonder that such a lofty character used to live in such a monumental house. In 1930 this was bought by Isaac Pialoglou, a wealthy Greek, who commissioned the famous architects Kassandras and Bonis – whose works include the emblematic Rex theatre - to build a new apartment building in its place. The graceful Bauhaus still adorns the center of the city, while, with its recent impeccable renovation, the penthouse apartment is now open to all aesthetes visiting Athens whether for business or pleasure – or a combination of both. Wake up from a great night’s sleep in mattresses and pillows with feathers softer than a baby duckling’s, make yourselves a coffee – there is an espresso and a filter coffee maker in the stunning kitchen – and take it outside in your private verandah. You can almost spot all landmarks and attractions which you’ll be visiting soo.

This is a wonderful part of downtown Athens that offers proximity to some of the most important landmarks of the world, as well as great options for dining or meeting with business partners and friends. Everything you need, from supermarkets, bakeries and grocery stores to bustling cafes and bars, quaint tavernas, modern eateries and chic shopping, is within fast and easy walking distance. Plus, bus and metro connections are excellent, when you want to venture out of the city center – every corner of which, is accessible by foot, when you feel like taking a leisurely stroll. The verdant hill of Lycabettus is some 12 mins on foot – and worth every step there for the all-sweeping views. The emblematic Acropolis is less than a half hour’s walk away. Syntagma, Plaka and the historical center is at 1 Km and the posh Kolonaki area with its high-end boutiques, art galleries and chic eateries, 1,4 Km from your doorstep. The historic neighborhood Exarcheia is some 5 minutes away – and brimming with dining and entertainment options for all kinds of styles: from trendy to traditional, and from laid-back to high-octane.
