Colleen was extremely helpful in providing useful information on sites to see and options on how to see them; she was able to provide a private tour for us within an hour of our querie. We enjoyed the details in the hotel's decor, and loved the cozy comforter on the bed. We also enjoyed some quiet time on the terraces. Both my husband and I are claustophobic, but we never felt "closed in" as the room was very spacious. The only reminder we had that we were sleeping in a cave was that the light did not wake us in the morning.... ;-)
We were initially nervous that the room did not have a safe, but the feeling dissipated by the following day as all of the staff gave us "a good vibe"
Exceptional location in Urgup, much better than staying in Goreme.Owners, themselves take care of the hotel, and are nice to help guests whatever they need. Ask room on 1rst floor if you have locomotion problems. Nice breakfast.Worth for the low price charged.
Staff is perfect! Very helpful and attentive. "Cave" was superclean. Breakfast is more then awesome!
Mosque is very close, so the morning pray at 5-30 really made made me start.
The place was lovely and clean, good bed. Good location
It was hot and there is no cooling not even a fan. There was no fridge or tea and coffee facilities. The balcony upstairs was nice to sit but you could only have tea or coffee at breakfast.for the price I would have expected at least one of the above. The noise of people walking past and the dogs meant sleepless nights
Adnan and colleen are always asking to check if everything is ok and if we need help. They helped with the airport shuttle and one of the tours too. Very good and I didn't need to follow up on anything. The night porter Hakki was very nice - very eager to help and he went out of his way to give us wine glasses for our evening drink on the terrace. Breakfast was good with eggs made to order, they also had gozleme which was delicious. Location within Urgup is very good.
Room did not have temperature control. It only had a dehumidifier. While this may be part of the cave hotel experience it was very uncomfortable as we were either too hot or too cold. Wifi was too weak to use on the lower level (we had the Roman suite which had sitting room on ground level and bedroom and bath on lower level).
Colleen and Adnan were fabulous hosts with a wealth of information. The room and entire hotel were very authentic. We had a fantastic stay and our kids loved it.
location and excellent chef for breakfast
Loved the location, our room, the bedding, and the incredible breakfasts. The hotel staff presented a true concern re: cleanliness, considerate manner and warm smiles. The owner's professional and personal attention, her kindnesses, travel suggestions and her open sharing of her respect and knowledge of the culture made our stay so very memorable. Truly have not stopped recommending.
Adnan and coleen are extremely hospitable. you will enjoy more if you go for 3 days. we wish we go there again.
Modern day conveniences in an old world atmosphere. Colleen and her staff provide a wonderful atmosphere with lots of niceties of an upscale hotel in the charming building with lots of levels, views, stairways and more.
The only thing I could think of would be if it were located in Goreme...but it's easy to get to by local bus (3 TL)...so not a negative....
The owners were super helpful. They arranged our hot air balloon ride with a very good company which was less expensive than those recommended in our guide book - an added bonus! The rooms were each unique, spacious, and quite comfortable. Yes, we'd stay there again.
First, the staff - the owners, Adnan and Colleen, were there to help us in any way we needed. Colleen would check with us at breakfast every morning (on the rooftop patio with a scenic view) to ask about our plans and to offer suggestions. Adnan would catch up with us in the evening, more often than not, and offer a Turkish perspective on what we had seen that day. The rooms were comfortable and were designed to feel like living in an old castle (with good Wi-Fi :)) Urgup is interesting in itself and conveniently located in the Cappadocia region. Good restaurants and not as touristy as Goreme.
Depending on how much of the local flavor you want to absorb, the morning (4:30 AM) prayer call from the minaret next door, and the howling dogs it sets off, might be a negative for some. For me, it's part of the Turkish experience.
Great location, wonderful atmosphere and decor in our room. Delicious breakfasts! Colleen and Adnan very helpful when you go to plan your time in Cappadocia.
Great, quaint hotel! The owners were very welcoming when we arrived. They shared tea and coffee with us as they helped to describe the best places to see in the area. The restaurant that was recommended to us was wonderful. The rooms may not all be technically in a cave, but it was much better than ever expected. The stonework in the room we stayed in was absolutely gorgeous. We had our own private access to the terrace which over looked the city center. The hotel has several very nice terrace areas. Absolutely recommend this hotel to all!!
The rooms were amazing! The bed was so comfortable, you felt like a king sleeping in it We had a great view of the city and surrounding areas from our window
it was an amazing stay at Cave Konak Thank you Coleen!
Beautiful room, beautiful design and architecture. Beautiful views from the terrace, where breakfast is served. Staff and owners were lovely, friendly, caring and helpful. We were sad to leave! Highly recommend this location.
The owners, Colleen and Adnan, really go above and beyond to be helpful and accommodating in every way.
Great Hotel, great and knowledgeable staff. Well located.
Very friendly staff.( Colleen and Adnan) Beautifully appointed rooms and baths. centrally located
The cave room was amazing, decoration and size was great!! The hotel's staff was really helpful and kind.
Maybe to stay a long period in the cave room is not a good idea because the dust that falls out of the stones.
The manager of the hotel is extremely professional, sincere, honest and dedicated to her work. She made a great plan for our travel and helped us with many other arrangements on the trip. We felt very safe, secure and well-treated in the hotel. Additionally, its one of the best cave hotels a person can stay in Cappadoccia. They welcome their guests extremely well.
A little aspect we didnt appreciate was, the change in attitude of our driver assigned from the hotel as we visited a pottery company - a friend of the driver. We were expected to make purchases at the place, which we didn't ourselves request to be included. Its great to get all kinds of experiences and visit these places, but every tourist has their own plans, budgets and expectations from the trip. Thus, I feel this can be taken care of in the future- if one doesnt purchase things as expected by the driver/guide, it should not reflect on the hospitality showed towards them. Though, the driver did show us around dedicatedly, however, we wish to draw attention to this one aspect still for the future.
- Bed is super super comfortable, had best sleep for the whole journey! I was wondering where they purchased the bed from. - Friendly stuff gave us excellent recommendation on restaurants and transportation, also offered Turkish tea to welcome us - Right in the Urgup city centre, 5 mins to walk to bus station. - Nice view from hotel - Nice little shops around the area - Stuff speaks perfect English - Very helpful and flexible on check-in and check-out arrangement, as we checked in one day later and had to leave very early in the morning.
- Due to language limitation, we purchased wrong night bus ticket and were dropped at Goreme at 6am instead of Urgup. We had no idea how to get to Urgup so called our hotel for help... But they refused to pick us up and left us to sort out this problem ourselves. - bus to Goreme Village scheduled to be every 2 hours. - No kettle and tea/coffee in room, Wi-fi is limited in one room only
Although we had a miss agreement on rooms during the check-in but the hotel owner was very kind and dilved our issue in the next day. The cave design is remarkable and very nice. The hotel staff Hakki is the most helpful and gentle hotel employee I deal ever, and I'm travelling alot, Big thanks to him. Breakfast wa good and its made special as request.
