My room was effected by noise from people walking up and down the staircase and staff traffic. Also air con noisy and did not heat the room. Checked out and was not asked if I enjoyed my stay.. bit of a fatal error. Just felt it was not worth the money in todays market.

    Great location and view

The location was fantastic and the hotel was very aesthetically pleasing and clean. The staff were also really friendly and had gone to the extra effort of leaving a dog bed and doggy bag in the room for our dog, which was a lovely little touch.

Room lighting is atmospheric, but not good enough to put on make up ( even in bathroom) - but this is the case in all hotels in this group. Power point at the dressing table for hairdryer would be useful.

Disappointing there wasn't fresh milk in the fridge to go alongside the lovely coffee on offer!

The room was perfect for our stay and managed to get the best price through booking.com. lovely breakfast and array of coffee in the room

Room way too dark - literally too dark to read even with the lights on - I think we had the same room last time we visited... also why is checkout not 12 noon - 11am is more like the time you expect from a small B and B

Comfy room and nice big bathroom

The room was exceptionally small for a 4star hotel and sparsely decorated. We also found the room very dark and poorly lit. On street parking was an issue for us.

The tables weren't clean and there were dirty glasses in the bar area and on the tables. We waited a while to be served. And the cost of the drinks was very high. I called to ask for parking on my way to the hotel. I was told there were no spaces on site and I'd have to pay £56 for an overnight space. After some negotiation, I was offered a voucher to cover half of this fee. When we arrived, my partner was offered a car parking space on site for even less cost. I did wonder why this wasn't offered initially.

The location, views, and room are really lovely. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom, and the high-quality products! Great coffee.

Breakfast could have been better, no ordinary full fat milk, bread poor, no fresh bread only toast, cheese, that you have to ask for is just sliced processed, but cooked breakfast good, pastries nice too. Just a little better on the continental front. Not a deal breaker would just bring my own ( when we queried the same at a premier inn type place they went straight out to the local shop to get some and it was there waiting for us the next morning, a lovely touch.

Room excellent, warm, comfy, large bed, fluffy towels, good view, good bar area and lounge. Location good easy to avoid driving in Bristol's one way, bus lane, congestion charging that makes it a no go as far as we are concerned ( welcome tourists NOT!!!!! ). Clifton is lovely, good shops, restaurants etc. Parking good.

    1. The Goram & Vincent restaurant menu is trying to be too ‘different’ - we feel the hotel would be better to adopt a menu more similar to Côte, Browns, The Ivy. For example, the terrine starter was rabbit terrine which wouldn’t suit everyone. In our opinion the other HDV hotel (The Sugar House) where we generally stay has a more suitable menu 2. The armless seating benches in the foyer area are uncomfortably low and difficult to rise from 3. The lighting in the rooms are complicated

    1. Quick & efficient check-in 2. Comfortable beds 3. Exceptionally clean 4. Fast lift 5. Efficient room-service 6. High quality fresh cooked breakfast

The main thing which was disappointment was the breakfast. We had to pay an extra £22 per person for breakfast. The Beans were cold, bacon was tough, scrambled egg sloppy and the toast was stone cold.

The Hotel is in an excellent location. There are fantastic views over to the suspension bridge in the rear garden. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We also had a great deal on the price, possibly because we had booked very early.

The decor was so dark it was like being in a cave🤣 and not all the lights worked

We didn’t have breakfast or meal at the hotel. Though the room was clean and comfortable it was very dark, & I thought quite pricey.

Very minor point but it would have been good to have some larger pillows to sit up in bed with.

Room was lovely. Lunch was good although a little pricey and lacked atmosphere on a Friday lunchtime (we were the only ones in for much of the time)

I don't understand how is possible that in such a nice place slippers and toothpaste/toothbrush are not provided. I didn't like a specific comment of the Italian waiter who served us at dinner.if I was alone I'd have definitely replied, made a point and perhaps even a formal complaint. Yet,most of the dishes were not included in the package but there was a supplement to pay.

The room overall was quite cool and comfortable. Staff helpful and nice.
