Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery disappointed the pool and jacuzzi were closed, we only booked it because of these facilities. Breakfast was excellent. Evening meal was poor, mash potato was like smash and roast potatoes done in deep fat fryer. The room was poor needs refurbishment. Like the general feel of the hotel surroundings.

United KingdomCold room requiring portable heater Dripping shower Bed that my wife said she hadn’t rolled away so much since Valentine’s Day. Pool not functioning but then at £7 per hotel guest plus £1 per towel kind of puts u off anyway. Not a luxurious place. Most of all, people here are nice & keep this place running. Could Brittania please sort. Also a direct phone number to reception not via their hopeless centre where they cannot connect you.
I really want to give a rave review. But it’s a tad Fawlty Towers. A friend got married here 20 years ago & I stayed. It’s safe to say the building hasn’t received much maintenance since. But I came here for a 50th party nearby. Upon arriving we found a parking space (just) the hotel was v busy so must be doing something some things right. Check in fine & nice staff. Headed to room (suite room 131) it was colder than my ex. Went to reception, found the nice housekeeping lass & asked for a portable rad as the reds in the room were clearly of another era. Got back to the room. Wife is like there is massive torture drip from shower, I’m like…close the door. Nope the drip was not for anyone with any heating, back to reception. No other rooms. Suggested towel under drip n free bottle Of house wine. If u can fall asleep. Just drink a bit more. Next morning I turned on dripping shower. Was like a tsunami. Great but the shower tray was last ready for this in 1979. Hence if u want this shower u better be quicker than lightening. Breakfast was apparently good but £12 - can’t say I saw it I was sleeping off the shower prep & shower trauma.

United KingdomLack of room service with small children, buffet meals in the restaurant in the evening. It's normal to have a breakfast buffet but not so in the evening. The options were not popular with the kids. I got the impression that pool access was included in the booking based on the booking.com details and I even messaged to check the opening hours and that children are allowed at the pool which was replied to but no one mentioned that the pool was at extra cost and I was charged both days for that. After arrival I advised we wanted to visit the pool as we were a little early and we were directed to the pool only to find then that it was not included in the booking even though mention of a family friendly pool in the venue description was the main reason for the venue choice. Pool was cold enough to be a surprise but not so cold it stopped us going back day two. There was mention of the option of having fruit in the room in the description and to ask on arrival. I assumed this would have an extra charge but I was advised on arrival that fruit for the room is not available which surprised me. Booking.com sent details of 2 guests to the hotel despite my putting myself and 2 children in the booking details and I had to call the hotel and confirm the actual booking details.
The location was amazing, beautiful building and location and grounds. The room was very clean and comfortable and happy they switched the executive room for a family room for us. Amazing bathroom The kids loved using the pool. Staff were all polite and friendly and didn't seem to mind the children running around being cheeky and were supportive.

United KingdomMany parts of the building needed some tlc and were quite dated. Some redecoration was occurring in various parts of the building. The actual room was comfortable but appeared unfinished in parts.
It was a lovely building with lots of history and character.

United KingdomThe food was dry and bland, vegetables tasteless and salads not existent absolutely not fine dining. The noise from the room overhead meant we got no sleep. Advertised as dog friendly but he was confined to the bedroom. Not suitable for dogs from that perspective. We thought we were staying in a fabulous Hall but we’re confined to the pokey hotel next door, no access to any glamour that was reserved for weddings and events. We had to PAY to get Wi-Fi in our room!
The staff were absolutely fabulous from reception to the bar to the restaurant, handy man, poolside and cleaners included. They all made the place! Beautiful location.

United KingdomThe dinner basically was running glow by 7.30pm! There was not much choice left. We didn't know the dinner rate was not a la carte, the choice left was limited and they did not put out enough food after 7.30pm. However, no complaints on breakfast plenty of food! Just do the same for dinner. Rooms need to be renovated, looking very tired.
The area is great, lovely little town and cafe.

United KingdomDinner was a buffet and this finished at 9pm which was no good for our team due to late working. Hot water was being serviced so a Luke warm shower was not ideal. Not enough parking with one car park shut even though it was required.

United KingdomThe dinner, there wasn't a choice for people with allergies, unless I wanted potatoe salad as a starter there was nothing else I could eat, and I could only have one thing for main and no dessert. Also the plates still had food stuck on them from previous meal time had to discard a few before we found clean ones. The addition of a bosh coffee machine in the room was very nice but unfortunately still had empty coffee pod in from previous occupants.
The breakfast was really nice, the staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the location was really good.

United Kingdommy room was very small..... I would say it was a store cupboard at one point !! bed was very uncomfortable regarding the restraurant....although the food was reasonable and the staff were very pleasant, the crockery and cutlery were filthy. At one point i returned four plates from the carvary station as they were unfit to eat off. one of my colleagues rooms had quite a few issues that reception were not really bothered about and when asked for a refund of £7.00 for the cost of internet that was required for work, as it did not work, were refused and told if they stayed again they would get it free.... We did not use the spa facilities (pool) as understand that you need to pay extra to use these facilities. This is not stated on the web site so is quite mis leading
hotel and grounds looked extremely nice from outside and reception area was very nice. Lovely bar
