Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were visiting the Crescent theatre right next door. But this hotel is fantastically placed for the whole of the centre of Birmingham but without the noise and bustle of the main thoroughfares. Pretty good breakfast too.

United KingdomAlthough the hotel was great I did feel at £217 for one night the rooms were quite standard and overpriced. The shampoo and conditioner needed refilling in the shower and television limited channels.
The situation was perfect for the arena, surprisingly quiet. Staff very helpful and friendly, hotel immaculate. Good communication before arrival too.

United KingdomWe booked the romance package and when we got there (4pm) we were unable to checkin because the room had not been sorted even though we came at midday to drop our bags early and was assured it’d be ready in an hour. We then asked for 4 soft drinks but got Prosecco instead and one of us does not drink which was a bit of a disappointment. Our AC wasn’t working but not sure if this is bc we also had our window open and the bathroom door was extremely stiff to close
The staff , food and general vibe is lovely!

United KingdomThe bed was small - smaller than the headboard arrangement, so the light switches weren't accessible from the bed and there was a significant space between the bed and the side tables. Also we couldn't get in until late.
Room, as always, clean and comfortable without being outstanding in terms of bed or decor. Always provides everything I need in an efficient and unfussy way.

United KingdomThe mattress was a little firm, but fine for us. Everything else perfect.
Perfect quiet location in Brindley Place which is ideal for the Utilita Arena. Room was basic but very clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay (including ironing board and iron) The breakfast was superb. The best we’ve had at a hotel of this type. Cooked to order fried eggs and omelettes and plenty of choice of everything. The staff were lovely - very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back.

United KingdomOnly one. Appeared only way to go between floors was by lift, I had to search out stairs (been a hotel fire) so I knew way out in an emergency. IF there were signs for the stairs I missed them.
First time at a Hilton Garden. Impressed. Room well set out and modern. Reception friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet was good with hot and cold food. Was given a 12:00hrs check-out. Car park is third party so only stairs to basement , we unlaoded at front of hotel and while one booked in, the other parked car. Was there on a Sunny bank holiday Monday, so a good atmosphere.

United KingdomPrice was a little expensive. Having stayed elsewhere in birmingham for less price/excerlent facilities, I would price our stay at Under £150 per couple. I know we upgraded but again.I have stayed elsewhere and upgraded for less than a hundred and fifty pounds per couple.
Location ideal for bars and show venue

United KingdomBoth the late bar and staffing levels inadequate and que jumpers . The breakfast room seating was very limited and people were using this as a social gathering rather than finishing there breakfast and moving on making room for others, which increased the problem but as this was a weekend it was not surprising.
Coffee and tea facility's and fridge with added bottled water in the rooms was an nice bonus as was the addition of a hair dryer. The breakfast was good with plenty of hot and cold choices to suit everyone's taste. Easy to find and great parking facilities.

United KingdomThe family room we stayed in was clean but needed the repairs carried out with a better finish, you could see where they had filled in holes around the A/C unit on the wall and the bifold door leading to the shower wasn't ideal for our daughter to use, the desk chair arms had all damaged on the ends an scratched my daughters arm, the tv wasn't easy to use and was very basic. The bed and pillows was so uncomfortable both myself and my husband struggled to sleep the pillows was that soft your head sunk that much it offered no support at all.
It is clean and very welcoming.

United KingdomWe were contacted before our stay with details of the hotel car park and one next door. The hotel car park was priced 'from £22`. It's managed by Just Park and was showing as nearly £34 to prebook. The Q park next door was full so we had to search around. We found a one 5 mins walk away for £9 so a happy ending for us but it would be better if the hotel parking was a standard rate and not extortionate. The bed was creaky as other reviews stated though it was comfortable to sleep on. We had a desk chair in our room that was faulty and sunk every time you sat on it, though not a big issue for us.
We were visiting the arena so the location was excellent. The hotel is set in a quiet area with no street noise during our stay (Friday night). The reception staff were really welcoming and the public areas of the hotel were well presented. Complimentary drinks vouchers and a surprise cake in our room for my husbands birthday was a lovely surprise. Our room was comfortable and clean, well decorated and had everything we needed for our stay - nice toiletries, fridge with bottled water, tea/coffee, ironing board if you need it. Breakfast was really nice with a wide range of choices and fully stocked. We really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.
