Pleasant, clean, affordable and convenient

Staff were pleasant and polite, though we did have to ring up for them to attend the reception. Room was a long walk and stairs, I had advised that my partner is disabled. Attention to detail as regards cleaning was lacking, flat surfaces not properly wiped, grout between tiles in shower area, sealing strip on shower door, bath side panel, all minor issues that could easily be remedied. Heating set too high in the whole of the building, we turned it off in our room. Bar not open (closed for refurbishment) no breakfast or meals available on site. Premises would benefit from some TLC, which will hopefully covered in the refurbishment We would like to stay here again. and see the improvements.

Room was spacious and well set out. Location was good and quiet. Bed clean and comfortable Car park, free to residents, very spacious. Good amount of tea & coffee in room.

The key card issued initially only worked intermittently. This was resolved rapidly by helpful late night reception staff. The shower area was clean, but would benefit from some new sealant to remove a slight build up of mold underneath it. The room would also benefit from a spare blanket or duvet for those chillier nights.

The room was clean, comfortable quiet, and overall good value for the price.

The hotel is currently in renovation stage , so there are no facilities for breakfast or dinner which was clear on booking . The hotel is however , within easy walking distance to the main high street so I was able to find a local co - op and pizza takeaway to tie me over for the night . The room was equip with sufficient of tea and coffee facility . I am sure the windows are up for improvement during the renovations as there was a slight degree of draught from them but nothing major as not near the bed and ample curtaining . The room was above a generator which at first was noticeable but didn’t impact my sleep . Only small things I noticed were a little more attention to light dusting and wiping down , the small bathroom bin could be replaced as had signs of rust on it , one of the basin lights wasn’t working and the blind needed replacing and possibly a fresh shower door as a bit “tired” .

The new owner ( been there a few months ) explained that they were in the process of renovating the hotel and function rooms . The reception area was welcoming with tasteful Christmas decorations and a bar which I didn’t end up using but a nice addition! Very friendly professional and helpful . The owner , Showed me to my room in the annex next to the main hotel building which I found to be Clean and good standard room . Nice crisp white towels and bedding . Comfortable bed with additional pillows available . Handed me information of number to call for reception should I need it . If they continue with the standard of Customer service I received and are competitive when all is up and running for breakfast and dinner options with their booking price . I would certainly recommend as a nice alternative to the typical chain Hotels . Thank you . And good luck with your future . Would I recommend to visiting family and friends - yes 😊

The first impression would be greatly improved if the very worn-out mat at the main entrance to Reception was replaced. It would be good to have food available, especially breakfast. Our plastic room keys worked unreliably after a day or so. Lighting was rather minimal for reading. Both of the bedside lamps had faulty switches or contacts.

Good-size room, and bed comfortable. Quiet. Bathroom modern and clean and plumbing worked very well. Plenty of parking. Staff efficient and polite. Coffee and tea-making facilities were good and the staff replenished these neatly and efficiently during the day.
