On this visit I was taken ill with a severe chest infection. I'd paid for breakfast on both days but realised that it would be impossible for me to stay. I phoned and left a message, requesting that instead of a breakfast on the Saturday morning, would it be possible for them to make me a sandwich to take on the road? Eventually a chambermaid came to my door and although I repeated my request...it was obvious that I wasn't going to get any help in this? I ended up going to a nearby shop and buying what I needed and decided to stay that Saturday and departed the hotel at 03:00 on the Sunday morning.

This is one of my favourite hotels in Eastbourne, it is in a great location, unfortunately on this visit, my favourite bar...The Stage Door, was shut for refurbishment....but that's not the fault of this hotel. Very friendly staff and outside of Wetherspoons, offers quite astonishingly cheap prices in the little bar.

No net curtain across the window to preserve decency meant having to think about where to undress or do it in the dark

It was basic, but full of vibrant art work. Staff were very helpful

Not a lot.....it's pretty much perfect

This is my third time here, but I find it very relaxing, and there is lovely art works, in the rooms, and the building generally. The atmosphere is very calm, and the staff is very easy to approach, and normally solve must problem. The breakfast menu is very simple, but is freshly made for, by the cook, in the morning, and is worth the wait. I was in room 203, which was a single room, was still very comfortable, despite it being a slightly uncomfortable bed, but otherwise happy with my stay, probably be back next year.

We got the room right above the hotel kitchen and all the smell of cooking trapped in our room, especially during breakfast time. Otherwise, the stay was great.

Location is great and very near to the sea. Front desk staff is very polite, helpful and attentive.

Dog barking outside was the only noise irritation and short lived disturbance. Creaky floor in places.

Genuine, polite and accommodating staff when there is opportunity to meet staff. Quiet room, at this time of the year, which enabled a relaxing break alone, clean room and hotel. Two pillows on the single bed are too thin. I felt like a letter in an envelope!!! Bring your own plump pillow or support pillow if needed. I found the bed comfortable. Not too soft, medium firm. Bath quite deep to step into for less mobile or short person. There was a hair dryer, little fan and iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. Relaxing atmosphere and decor in hotel communal lounge areas. Ideal location for walks and exploring surrounding area. No banging/slamming doors during my stay! Hooray!!

I didn't like the floor. Prefer carpet or a rug added by the bed would be nice. The pillows were toooooo thin. Hard for anyone who needs to sleep with slightly raised chest rather than completely flat. The bath was very deep to get into for a shower for a shorter person !

Great location close to sea front and easy walkable distance to the centre and other places of interest. The hotel was bright, colourful, clean , welcoming and comfortable. My single room was small but adequate for one night with everything I needed. I was very happy by how quiet it was inside the hotel. No banging doors or sounds of other guests. I slept very well and felt relaxed which was what I wanted. The quiet! I didn't have breakfast but it smelt great early in the morning! I will definitely stay here again as a quiet getaway although I think that may also depend on other guests.

I need to remember to take my own pillow. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, but the pillows are really poor. They do the job (sort of), but I don't know how they managed to even buy pillows that bad. Even though they are one of the cheaper hotels around, the pillows seem like the one detail that manages to drop below the 'value for money'.

Their handling of parking is excellent; they include a day permit without any extra charge. Breakfast is always great. The single rooms are small but absolutely fine at this price point. The staff are always really friendly and supportive, and enough to have me book again (and I've booked here several times already!) The location is absolutely great - right by the sea front and only 5 minutes walk from town.
