Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainNothing to say other than we thought the food was wicked expensive ;)
The room was especially spacious, great bed, and a beautiful view of the sea. The food was pricey, but we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

United KingdomThe room we had, 407, had a view into an internal "space" along with a few other rooms. Unfortunately there were air conditioning units at ground level which ran for most of the night and even with double glazed windows woke us up at 5am when they ramped up.
Good location and a lovely building. Inside had lots of original features. Staff were very courteous but not in your face. Room was huge and so was the bed. Fantastic shower.

United KingdomCould have been better value for the lack of view rooms - however it was very quiet.
Beautiful old grand hotel, very welcoming and comfortable, a treat for a special birthday. The staff were really lovely, helpful and friendly, couldn’t do enough for us - we’d booked afternoon tea and wanted to change the time and they were very accommodating. The rooms were large and comfortable - we had the cheaper standard rooms with no view (back of buildings, couldn’t see the sky) but we knew this would be the case and we weren’t there much so it didn’t bother us - the price could have reflected this a bit more though I think. Having said that, I’d definitely go back and have the same rooms. The breakfast was amazing and the staff lovely and friendly.

United KingdomThe Korean chicken I ordered wasn't great TBH. Looked like it had come out of the freezer, and not really on a par with Korean chicken you can get elsewhere in Brighton. But perhaps I just ordered the wrong item? Given the overall feel of The Grand I was expecting something a bit more special.
The hotel itself has a wonderful old fashioned style which is perfect for Brighton's faded seaside glamour. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean, aesthetic, and well set out. Everything was very well maintained. The seafront location is great. And Brighton's huge range of restaurants, cafes and pubs are nearby. Staff were professional. Overall I was struck by how well priced The Grand was for a UK hotel. Really impressed.

United KingdomThe bedroom furniture was dated and very chipped. The lighting wasn’t sufficient to do my hair & makeup. The shower was so powerful it hurt my back. No room service available when we returned from a gig. We were told there was no chef working that evening to prepare even a sandwich. There was an issue because I was cœliac but my husband just wanted a normal sandwich, but never got one.
The decor, friendly staff, restaurant, breakfast, the size of the room. Tea & Coffee making facilities. Etc.

United KingdomI thought the £10 tray service was excessive for my breakfast to be bought up to the room.
We had a had a lovely warm welcome from the concierge at the front of the hotel. Our luggage was unloaded swiftly and the car was parked up for us. The reception staff were also very welcoming and our room was ready earlier than expected. We were really pleased with the our bedroom, bathroom and sea view. The hotel bar and restaurant had a really modern décor to it. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and there was an excellent selection of wines that were available throughout the Grand Hotel. The bar staff were polite, knowledgeable about the drinks and very friendly too.

FinlandWe booked the twin room, it was made double and changed after asking, but room is not good for a twin because of big furniture. Reception said it is twin even they did not even come and see it. Maintenance soon came and moved a furniture with us, but this level of place you should not have to do that first thing you come in...I have worked in business years and must say that I would be the one to do it, not customers. Breakfast and staff there was awesome!
Breakfast is awesome as the location.
