Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRooms was not at all what I expected from booking. Walked into a dated room, which was a bit of a surprise as expected something more modern based on the pictures. I stayed in room 21. Only in it for a short time, but was very disappointing having looked forward to staying.
Bar area very nice

United KingdomNot much , being an old building the plugs are in strange positions in the room. There was no air conditioning, but we didn’t really need it. Parking is in public car park , but again it’s only over the road and pretty convenient, As I was parking overnight and leaving for work before 8 am it was inexpensive. So no real gripes
It has character, the restaurant food was very good , the room a good size. Staff were friendly and professional

SpainThe smell of the room and the smell of the bathroom (we needed to leave the window open throughout our stay). The room was very shabby (we understood from previous reviews that it will be renovated soon and then I'm sure it will be lovely) . It was very overpriced, but that was always going to be the case at festival time.
The dining area was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious (we had the roast beef and the roast belly pork). Due to staying in the hotel, we were given a 20% off food voucher which made it reasonably priced. The bed was very comfortable with clean linen and lovely big fluffy towels. Good hot shower too and quite a spacious room which was generally quiet (apart from the glass bin collection at 6am!). Perfect location for us being only a half hour walk to and from Reading Festival and an easy walk into town with all its amenities. Massive carpark over the road too with plenty of spaces and the hotel give you a discount voucher for that too, which was great.

United KingdomThe bedrooms were tired and basic but I know they are upgrading , breakfast took forever, only one untrained server , she did. Know how to work the iPad and was slow in serving They only seem to be able to do a table at a time and my breakfast was stone cold on the plate , they were great in refunding but really for £250 as opposed to normal rates as it was a night Reading festival prices so expect it to be perfect
The bar and downstairs area restaurant were lovely so we’ll thought out and welcoming and comfortable lived the library room

United KingdomAlot of money was spent doing up the bar area etc but the bedrooms are lacking in decor etc plus they seem very hollow as regards noise/ sounds from adjoining rooms we could hear people in the next room talking as if they was sitting with us . Plus the stairs !!!! I'm glad we didn't have mobility issues as we was on the 2nd floor

United Kingdomno air con/fans in the room, (appreciate the building limits what can be done about this) the window backed onto a noisy area so couldn't keep the window open fully overnight and it was a very hot evening.
was exactly what I needed - a clean room, comfy bed, facilities to get ready for an evening out and central Reading location.

ItalyCarpet in the room is extremely dirty (basically is black) The people working/living in the building in front of my room, can perfectly look through windows. The room has curtains but they are blinders. So, if you close curtains, you must switch on the light even if it still day outside. The problem could be easily solved, installing a second pair of curtains that are a bit lighter and let light passing Unpleasant smell on the last floor stairs

The location is great! Very central to everything. Tea, coffee, biscuits and bottles of water all supplied. Ok for a one night stay .
