This is not a criticism, but upon check in we could have been showed where to go for breakfast and what time with the person who checked us in, and the wonderful rooms that can be used.

The room was everything I expected it to be, very comfortable and warm and was spotlessly clean. Breakfast the following morning was very good quality with a very good choice.

Insufficient number of staffs (many hotels now have the same issue). No lift (I needed to bring up heavy suitcases to our rooms on the 2nd floor).

Gorgeous mansion in countryside. Surrounded by Welsh nature. Decent food. Comfortable bed.

Initial greeting when we arrived before 3pm check in was less than helpful...but it improved in the end, when we returned later, after a short trip into Brecon

It was understaffed and therefore , it took a long time to find someone on reception and to place orders for food and drinks. ( This is evidently a problem with management, as the staff were absolutely fantastic and trying their best to make sure everything ran with precision, there were just not enough people for it to function effectively)

The hotel is set in the most beautiful, peaceful valley bordering the Brecon Beacons. It it a fabulous country house with a wonderful collection of art. It is comfortable and luxurious but relaxed and welcoming. The staff were lovely and were doing their utmost to make your stay perfect. The rooms were tastefully decorated and beds were extremely comfortable . It was spotlessly clean .

Beautiful location. Great house. Great room. Hotel seemed almost empty so lacked some atmosphere. Skeleton staff in evening meant we had to go searching for reception, drink, etc. Those we found were lovely. Garden not as manicured as we expected. Feel you maybe are missing a trick; but not put finger on why. We v much enjoyed our stay though.

Would have preferred a menu option for breakfast to have it cooked fresh or options like smoked salmon rather than help yourself buffet.

dinner was a bit slow and choice on menu was limited, the supplement for steak was stupid steak is only £5/7 to buy so a £24 supplement is way over the top the wine list was pricey, I like good wine but some of the prices were well out of line

Staff knowledge about dinner items needs to improve. And please don't put heating on to "high" in room when outside temp is 10 °. There is an energy crisis!

The stunning house - like being in someone's elegant home. and the original art - paintings and drawings everywhere!

The property really could do with a proper reception desk to welcome you on arrival. It was difficult to find staff to order drinks etc. Also it was difficult to read in the main reception room as the lighting is very dim.

Very good breakfast. Staff all very pleasant and helpful but the hotel seemed understaffed.

    Can't think of anything.

The hotel is a real oasis in the country side. Great views, totally relaxing and the friendliness of the staff is incredible. Lots of laughter came out of the kitchen, so no Gordon Ramsey style of abuse here. We had so much fun. The food was wonderful and the service was great. Go and visit the kitchen garden: Much of what you eat comes from there. The place is full of original art, knick-knacks and surprise corners - incredibly stylish, adding to the great atmosphere. They are a bit understaffed like everybody else and therefore it is advisable to stick to the booked meal times, which not all guests did- which I found rude. It does not cost much to be helpful whatever you pay for your stay. We will certainly be back and we can recommend this place to anybody who wants a special treat.

Stayed in the middle of the heatwave. Whilst the absence of air conditioning was understandable in this heritage building, our room lacked a portable fan and was unbearably hot overnight. The absence of a fridge / minibar was surprising.

I thing our room must have been above the kitchen as there was a lot of noise until just after 11pm. After that it was very quiet and peaceful

The food was excellent, dinner and breakfast. The room was a little smaller than I imagined but still lovely and the bathroom was excellent
