Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe Hotel was a little jaded and in need of a refresh. It has just opened after the winter break and there was a smell of damp on entering the building at the reception and going to the room. The room had a foosty/damp smell also.

United KingdomDid not like the paper cups in the room. The Bar was ridiculously priced, only bottled Ale available or spirits at an eye watering £6 for a single, avoid if possible, use the local Fiddlers Inn instead. Room was cold.
Location was within easy reach of local village, shops/pub and restaurant, close to Loch Ness Centre and a short drive to Urquhart Castle and waterfalls. Room was comfortable but cold, with TV, WiFi and kettle. Breakfast had a good choice of cooked or cereal/toast/croissants.

United KingdomThe decor is old and often not particularly in keeping with the exterior of the (original) building - which is charming. There is a hotel sitting room on the ground floor but it is not especially comfortable to relax in. It would have improved if they had lit the fire - but I am afraid they hadn't.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel restaurant was closed the evening we were there and they organised a table for us with the village restaurant located 100m away (which was excellent). We were upgraded too - which is always a nice touch. The bed was comfortable. A really good breakfast.

United KingdomQuite a (damp?) odour in the stairs and hallways. Room was cold, an extra heater was used most nights. Felt guilty about using it though. We chose this for the ‘character’ though another hotel in the village had refurbished rooms. That might’ve been better.
Visiting a friend in Drum who couldn’t put us up. Very easy re location. Staff on reception excellent and friendly. Easy parking outside.

United KingdomFor second successive time I have stayed, they could not be relied upon to provide an evening meal. Last time we were asked to go elsewhere because they were dealing with a busload of tourists who they thought deserved priority and this time they gave the chef the night off at short notice. Pity because there is plenty else to recommend it.
Returning customer - third time I have stayed here. Comfortable, good location, good atmosphere, interesting tartan themed decor with historical pictures evoking the Jacobites. Food is good and there is a pleasant bar & restaurant.

United KingdomThe hotel.is rather dated, and some guests would probably prefer a more modern decor and facilities, but for me, the old-fashioned nature of the hotel added to its charm and character.
We had a very comfortable stay at this hotel. We had dinner in the hotel and the food and service were excellent. We chose the haddock and it was one of the most beautifully cooked pieces of fish I've ever had. Breakfast the following morning was also excellent

United KingdomHotel Decor, exepected tradittional Scottish however our room felt like a time warp to the 80's with wooden fixtures & mirrored walls. Marks on ceiling, dust on doors/surfaces & woodwork. No fridge in room available - We needed this to store Diabetic Medication. Staff were very accomodating & stored medication in main hotel kitchen fridge - we were able to request this whenever we needed. WIFI was available in main area of hotel but did not work in the rooms unfortunately. Heat in room from built in radiator by window did not have any control in room to switch off - Window was open slightly as a result to keep room at acceptable temp - windows very old so was scared to attempt to open more or close in case of damage. Bathroom furnishing needs upgrading - beige colour of tub has marks unable to be removed which gives the look of un-cleanliness. TV in room was good size & Freesat box worked fine - Woupd of preferred a Smart TV with Netfix or other streaming services (would only work if WIFI was available in rooms). Outside seating area for smoking was not covered, one night it rained & thankfully I had an umbrella with me - If not I would of been drenched, Did not see any free to use umbrella's around entrance area for gueats to use if need be.
Staff were very welcoming, friendly & extremely attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast was well presented with good variety of options to eat hot or cold food. Evening food available in hotel restaurant was delicious also. Location of the hotel was perfect for exploring the area since you are at the middle of the Loch, was able to visit other areas conviniently. Outside seating area for smoking was comfortable with pleanty of space for all smoking guests. Lounge area - seating was comfortable with lots of room to relax after a long day of exploring the area. Libary shelves in Lounge had a vast selection of books, I assume available for guests to borrow diring your stay - local in-date guide books available too. Hotel is nextdoor to Nessie Land - We didnt visot as rime ran away from us but thought it was convinient how close thos was if you were wanting extr info on the history of Nessie. Hotel is a 5/10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the town centre of Drumnadrochit where you will find all ameneties needed - Cashpoint, Garage/petrol station, Pharmacy, Co-Op shop, Pizza delivery, Bars/Restaurants, Bakery, Fire Station, Farm shop.

Food was very over priced and we believe it to not be nice we did not eat here we opted to find a take awsy close by and take back to nessieland and eat outside.
