The steam room was broken and has been for some time we were told. The windows in the room outside were extremely dirty which made enjoying the views a bit disappointing.

    Very helpful and friendly service

There was no body wash in the mounted to the wall dispenser for taking a shower. There was no ice machine and the onsite restaurant was horrible. My husband ordered a pizza that was advertised as having basil on it - and didn’t get any basil. When the manager came by and asked us how things were, we told him and he was not overly concerned.

I stayed here in January and really enjoyed the use of the pool and gym and it made the visit to Cardiff even better, I normally look for hotels with a pool as I enjoy that when I stay, I was however dismayed to learn on arrival that there is a fee now for hotel guests using the pool, £10 a session and so when I decided to stay an additional day in Cardiff I decided to check into another hotel that didn't charge additional fees for on site facilities. I don't think I'll be going back to the Mercure, with 2 people staying for 4 days it was a lot of additional fees. I booked into a slightly more expensive hotel but it was still a cheaper option for me in the long run to have full use of all facilities without extra costs.

The room was nice and comfortable but a little cold in the evenings and there was no way to heat up the room. The beds were comfortable and the location was good. Staff were polite but the food menu didn't inspire.

The changing room floors were very dirty, as were the showers. Breakfast wasn't the same quality as usual, with eggs overcooked and cold potatoes. We didn't go down for breakfast on the second day, even though we'd paid for it

    Lovely room

There was a toddler swimming group when we went to use the facilities and thought it was more of a spa vibe but we still enjoyed our time!

Unfortunately when we went back to the bar at 10.30 the man behind the bar was on his own and clearly distressed and was rude to some customers

Loved the pool and jacuzzi. Rooms were great although unfortunately we couldn't get in one room until after 4.00pm as wasn't ready. Very clean and tidy

Great location, very central and walking distance to shopping mall and Cardiff Castle. Parking is available st the hotel for an additional fee. We enjoyed having a treatment in the hotel day spa and were lucky to get in considering we only made a booking on the day of the treatment. Rooms were quite large as-well as bathroom.

By no means is this the fault of the hotel, this is a personal note. I’m a very light sleeper & every so often the sound of the lift being called would wake me up. If you’re a super light sleeper, take earplugs.

Travelled to stay here for one night whilst working in Cardiff. Check in was very smooth, I asked for a room a quieter area of the hotel and they provided me with a room on the top floor. Room was great & had everything I needed. Very spacious, bed was very comfy! Air conditioning worked perfectly and was easy to use. Wi-Fi was great, I worked from the room for a couple of hours and had no issues with connectivity. When I checked in I was offered breakfast to be delivered to my room the following morning. I selected a time slot of 8am to 8.30am for delivery. At 8am sharp my breakfast arrived. Really happy with the service here & would stay again should I ever visit Cardiff again.

External noise was bad, could do with better windows! Breakfast was poor. Buffet breakfast was already cold and tough by 645. Machine coffee wasn't great and the staff cleaned and reset my table around me even though it wasn't busy!

Staff at reception were really friendly and welcoming. Room was good size with comfy bed and smart, clean and large bathroom.

Booked this hotel as it had a pool, however on arrival learnt extra £10 per person to use facilities. Apparently mentioned somewhere in small print. In fairness to the hotel, gave us a voucher to use pool once during our stay. Wouldn't choose this hotel again; when booking a hotel with pool facilities for this price would expect use of facilities to be included.

Great location, easily walkable to town centre/Castle. Friendly helpful staff, great breakfast and lovely room. Chose hotel for location and pool facilities.

The hotel charges for parking and only has 70 spaces. Had to park at another car park which cost £75 for 3 nights. The lifts were broke, the showers in the spa were broke, the steam room was unavailable. There were swimming lessons happening and kids crying and screaming in the pool. Hardly a relaxing spa!

The property was near to lots of bars and restaurants
