Breakfast was disappointing. The choice of food was limited and things had run out and weren't refilled despite requests. The woman overseeing the buffet could have been more cheerful and helpful.

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds just a short taxi ride from Sawbridgeworth station. The indoor pool is fabulous - big and warm - plus there is a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi with long opening hours and it is all free to hotel guests. The bar man was very jolly! The dinner menu was quite interesting.

The breakfast was not good. Buffet style but everything overcooked and greasy and very limited non-cooked options.

The hotel itself is nothing special, it’s a step up from a premier inn but is clean and comfortable. The carpets in the room were lovely, bed large and comfortable, tv worked and was a smart tv so could use Netflix etc and was generally very nice. Bathroom was basic but fine. The spa and gym were excellent - well equipped gym, large pool, jacuzzi and steam room and small but good saunas in the m/f changing rooms. Again all very clean.

Although there were tea/coffee facilities in our room, a supply of bottled water would have been great. We couldn’t get bottled still water from the bar either.

The location was great. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and well maintained. There was ample parking and disabled parking spaces.

Not happy with Room 8. A bit too small. TV position in the wardrobe was awkward, especially for someone sitting on chair facing desk. Shower was wobbly and needed hand support to be effective. One hanger only provided in the wardrobe.

Breakfast, dinner were very good. Staff members were courteous and very helpful. Room and facilities were clean. Availability of gym, swimming pool and spa was a very big plus and reason for my wife to want to come back.

Staff not that helpful when checking in with lots of bags. No help offered I was given a rickety trolley to take my 2 huge suitcases and other bags and drag it through lifts and corridors

The building itself is not what the pictures look like online, it's very run down. The room was clean, but the bed was so uncomfortable, and there was a buzzing sound all night, which kept me awake. We had afternoon tea as part of a voucher I was given as a Christmas present last year, it wasn't very impressive. We were very disappointed, as we thought it would be a bit more posh/luxurious, given the place we were in. We have eaten many afternoon teas, as it's one of our favourite things to treat ourselves to, so we were looking forward to it, but we have had nicer in a cafe near our home. We were also the only ones in the room, as it was on a Monday, but felt like we were just left there, The staff didn't check up if we were ok, or if we wanted a top up, we felt a little deserted.

The grounds leading up to the house are beautiful, we saw a lot of wildlife during our stay. The spa is lovely, we had great treatments and the staff are lovely.

The fire alarm kept going off. We were told that was normal and that anything could set it off, eg. hot shower, heat in the kitchen. The staff said that if it was serious, we would be given a phone call in our rooms. This was very disconcerting and made us nervous during our stay.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel and grounds looked lovely.

The bar area rather open and dull. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling. Overall could be cleaner.

The modern entrance. No real bar. Restaurant looked bleak so had dinner in a nearby pub. There were 2 weddings on so reception was very busy, where the bar was with not enough seating. Need more disabled shower facilities, our room had a traditional bath, even though I asked, was told thete was only one room which was occupied.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. Beautiful grounds on a golf course beautiful countryside.

The cost of the food is probably a little bit too much. The room I stayed in could do with an overhaul. It was dated with marks on the wall and carpet. The bathroom could certainly do with a revamp. I arrived at 14:50 to be told my room was not ready yet, despite check in being at 15:00. I was happy to wait ten minutes but felt this was used by staff as an excuse to try to get me to spend money in the spa, and lunch area.

The food was very nice, and breakfast was delivered during the time slot I requested.
