Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe additional charge of £20 per dog per night was quite steep and added at lot to the end total. However they were made very welcome.
Good range of options for breakfast and evening meal. As we were travelling with dogs, we ate at a table provided in the bar area rather than restaurant but this was to our advantage. This was reserved throughout our stay. Room was large and well equipped. This is a Victorian building with plenty of character. Yes some areas are showing their age, but this added to the character of the property. All areas were spotlessly clean. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and really make this hotel. The location is easy to find from the A9 and short walk into the town.

United KingdomWe were staying for 2 nights, our room wasn't made up at all during that time, however family, who were next door, had their room made up. One of the rooms had clearly had an upgrade compared to the other. We had 2 twin rooms. The room I was in with one family member didn't have a head board and we kept hitting our heads in the picture above the bed when sitting up. The bathroom was also very dated and the shower could do with being upgraded. Beds weren't very comfortable but did us for the two nights and what we needed.
We liked that the hotel was close to our families homes as we were visiting for my grandfather's funeral. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough. Loved the vintage feel of the hotel. We used to visit Tain frequently over the years, not so much in recent years. Was very nostalgic as we would often come to the Morangie for family dinners when we came to visit.

United KingdomWe were a bit disappointed that the whole pizza menu wasn't available in the evening, but the meal we did have there one of the evenings we stayed was excellent.
Very good breakfast. Easy parking, and easy access off the Tain bypass (A9). Make sure your satnav doesn't send you round the back of the hotel - it is the second right turn, not the first. Lovely large room, but warm and cosy, despite the weather being very cold. Decent sized ensuite bathroom. Would stay here again.

United KingdomHonestly cannot find anything to criticise
Everyone was very friendly. The hotel was immaculately clean and full of Highland character. The room was outstanding - very spacious, well decorated, comfortable and quiet. I like to take frequent breaks from the Isle of Skye several times a year in order to write and walk on the sunnier side and this was, by far, the best hotel in which I’ve stayed. Tain is great for exploring btw!

United KingdomFrom my experiences the food can be expensive and the water pressure for the showers isn’t the best.
The property has a lovely feel to it, comfortable and friendly. Great setup for families travelling with children, cot and bedding provided. The food is always served with good portions and tastes lovely, both breakfast and dinner. The rooms are a great size and very comfortable. Good heating throughout the hotel as well.

United KingdomMy room was quite cold when I arrived and the window was very drafty during the cold, stormy weather we were having. I managed to 'bleed' the radiator in the bedroom which improved the situation but was unable to do the same with the one in the bathroom.
A lovely old building with lots of character. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was very good with lots of choice.

United KingdomIt’s looking very tired now. I mentioned at the time that I was upset that the housekeeping team tried to enter my room one and a half hours before checkout and I was still in. A key was used without a knock or calling to me. This won’t stop me from staying again but it should be noted as bad practice.
The location is ideal when I visit my daughter. Reception and waitress team’s excellent, friendly and helpful.
