Only point to mention was that the decaffeinated coffee was weak and not very enjoyable. Just because we drink decaffeinated coffee doesn't mean we are second-class citizens. I would have expected a hotel where their food quality is so high to serve high-quality decaffeinated coffee.

The room was lovely and large. Food was noteworthy, we especially enjoyed the steak sauces and the full cooked breakfast. High-quality ingredients resulting in exceptional food. Drinks prices at the bar were very affordable.

I thought the 2 gymnasium rooms were a bit confined, rooms where the door was shut behind you. Would not have felt comfortable working out in there with strangers as it was fairly cosy.

Room was spacious and spotless. Breakfast was huge and dinner was also excellent with plenty of food, couldn't finish the main course. Swimming pool was very relaxing as was the steam room and sauna. I had 2 treatments, a mini facial and a back massage. Both were excellent, very relaxing.

Remote location of the changing rooms for the pool. There were 2 family changing rooms beside the pool which were not in use and locked for duration of our stay (something to do with spa opening times which we couldn’t quite understand). The other changing rooms (which we were expected to use) were all beside the spa quite a long way from the pool (along a tunnel and then down stairs to another level). We enquired about robes but these were all in use by people using the spa. We didn’t want to be walking around in just swimsuits so ended up having to get changed at the pool before the swim. Then afterwards making a dash back to our room with towels wrapped round us to have a shower in comfort. It was a shame as the pool was nice but it spoilt the experience a bit. Also the sauna was closed when we went for a swim around 8.30am though the steam room was open, which we enjoyed.

Lovely property in stunning grounds with roaming peacocks. Charming decor, ambience and very friendly, helpful staff. Very nice bar and restaurant - the 3 course dinner was delicious. Spacious, comfortable rooms.

We stayed in the room number 50- good size, nicely decorated but the beds were very uncomfortable, mattresses way too soft and springy , we all woke up with a backache except for my 11 year daughter ended up sleeping on the chaise longue.. The bathroom was flooded with water after each shower as the rubber seal along the bottom of the shower screen was not deep enough and also very mouldy-needs replacing!

Lovely property and its surrounding grounds, charming decor at the lobby and restaurants. Our family enjoyed the activity centre- Snooker table, table tennis and the gym was also great. Breakfast was very good!!

Safe did not work in the room and a light bulb was out in the kitchen. One of the water bottles in the fridge was used and opened.

Service was great and the decor was excellent. We were given a free upgrade to a junior suite on arrival as the hotel was very quiet.

The changing rooms for the pool, rather chilly walking in a swimming suit! The safe didn’t work and the we.come screen had someone else’s name.

The dining room looked the part but on closer viewing was fairly downmarket. Poor cutlery not enough fine dining as the white tablecloths led us to believe on the add. Three burgers in the menu and a cloggy lamb shank and gloopy mash, dying flowers all all about. This venue is in desperate need of a woman’s touch - great potential but not.v impressive at the moment. Otherwise loved it and appreciated that quite a lot of money has been spent on furniture and wall paper etc.Perhaps the problem is that it’s not quite sure who its target market is?

Charming, like an Agatha Christy setting, warm fire, lovely welcome

Lovely old Manor Hotel, and a good service.

We felt that the overall appearence of the hotel was good, although may be just getting a little in need of some love. Our room was a nice size, but the kettle wasn't working and the ceiling had a damp patch on. The kettle was sorted, no problem. I think that if you pay to stay somewhere like this, then you expect things to be in order. We know it's an old Manor, but just a little mroe attention to things like damp patches or worn areas would be good. Otherwise, we loved the hotel and the location was only a short taxi ride to Tring, where we were having dinner.

A lovely Manor hotel, old school as they say. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't eat there, but we did take a drink in the bar, and the service was good. Our room was a good size as well.

Our room hadn’t been properly checked, the desk light was missing a light bulb, the mirror light in the bathroom out of action. No complimentary water was disappointing. What should have happened is all the lights switched on in the room prior to arrival. Breakfast at peak time is chaos but I appreciate how busy it was.

The entire decor of the place was one of the best we’ve seen (we stay in lots of hotels) the hall way and staircase, the bar and restaurant and the room were lovely. The evening meal was outstanding as were the cocktails in the bar there after.

Unfortunately the first room we were given had slightly dirty sheets, but the staff acted quickly and without hesitation to move us to another better room which was good and made us feel well looked after. The food in the restaurant is a bit basic. We had been hoping for a fancy meal but ended up with a burger and an average pork belly. But again, the staff were friendly and it was an enjoyable occasion. The bar could be a bit cosier (light some fires? Better seats?) and overall the place felt that little bit dated. But for the price you really can't complain, and we had a great time.

Pendley Manor is a beautiful building with a lovely entrance hall and grand staircase. The rooms are well done out, if in quite a twee style. The bed was comfy and we got the heating working to make it nice and cosy (it was freezing when we arrived). The spa pool is lovely and warm with a great sauna and stream room. Don't be put off by the slightly weird walk through a tunnel to get there! And do look out for passing peacocks outside! We went as a couple but the hotel seemed kid friendly so we'd happily go back with our kids.

Very interesting with lots of history and character to absorb. It felt comfortable. Had everything wanted for a one night stay but would think it would be a good base if staying in that area for longer.
