Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomServicing of our room was only just ok. The notice said the room would only be serviced every three days (perfectly ok), but it wasn't actually done until we asked. Om another occasion we asked for more tea, coffee and milk, but it didn't arrive. Not a major problem because the reception staff were obliging and [provided the necessary cheerfully. We paid only for the room, which was excellent. We thought the additional cost of breakfast (both cooked and continental) to be very much on the high side.
The staff in the bar and the pan-Asian restaurant attached to the hotel were all excellent (with one minor exception). Courteous, helpful, and engaging.

United KingdomScaffolding Empty cold water garden Cold breakfast Deceiving luxury photos on website
We arrived at the hotel, expecting something beautiful, and when we got there, there was all scaffolding up the front majority of the sea views were not sea views When I booked the hotel, it said swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and Sauna, Jacuzzi and sauna were not working and haven’t been for the last year and a half swimming pool was lovely. Changing rooms were like the Arctic and smelt damp. Breakfast was nice massive amount of choice, but the hot stuff was cold due to Buffet style! Staff were lovely and friendly always willing to help. Advertised Watergarden to be able to sit and relaxing, but that looks like it was undergoing a reverb and no chairs or tables out. Overall place we weren’t made aware of the scaffolding and referb going on in advance!

United KingdomThere was nothing I didn;t like
I booked 2 sea view rooms but due to scaffolding being errected, the hotel called me and asked if I minded staying in an Atrium room. I'm glad I did. I loved the balcony and having a drink on it, over looking the atrium from the 3rd floor, While there is no outside view, apart from the atrium roof, the rooms are lovely. Great breakfast. Absolutely amazing staff. Great bar in Sir Norman's. The Sefton is our hotel of choice whenever we visit the IOM each January

United KingdomHousekeeping promised to clean the room after 3 days and when they didn’t, I phoned the number to ask for fresh supplies of coffee and milk. I got through to an answering service and left a message. No one responded over the next 2 days and I had to go and see reception to get any response.
It had all of the facilities I look for in a hotel

United KingdomCleaner never came in room, we had to go to reception for toilets rolls! Didn't expect Cleaner to change sheets or towels, but expected clean coffee cups, toilet rolls etc. Room was clean, view awful, net curtains old fashioned. The lady on reception told us the electric train was running, when we got there, found it doesn't run on Monday.
Breakfast wasn't included on the booking even though I did click on bed breakfast on the app, so we had to pay extra for the breakfast, we had the continental which was OK. Room was spacious, but extremely basic, old fashioned, carpet threadbare, view from window bad. The man in reception in afternoon/evenings was very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomI would have to be very picky and that wouldn't be fair.
The room was very spacious and very comfortable. The balcony looked out over the Atrium and was ideal for a morning cuppa or a night time drink. The bathroom was good, the shower a little small but adequate. I can't fault the food at breakfast, plenty of choice and plenty of it 10/10. Normans bar and the Bonzai restaurant are excellent and they serve especially good Martini's. Already planning to go back.

United KingdomMy bed was really uncomfortable, the mattress was changed but the problem remained. I woke up with lower back pain everyday. The main purpose of staying in a hotel is for sleeping so this was a big downside.
It’s a beautiful hotel, location is excellent, staff were very friendly. The breakfast is fantastic.

United KingdomThe carpet in my room was frayed by the bathroom. It could have been a trip hazard to some people. The walk in shower design was poor as the curtain did not stop the water from cascading onto the floor. The shower over the bath was also unusable as there was no shower curtain attached.
The room overlooked the fish ponds in the Atrium. It was a tranquil space. The balcony was perfect for relaxing. The hotel itself is on the promenade very close to the shopping area with good restaurants nearby.

United KingdomThe weather was atrocious on a couple of days but that's hardly the hotel's fault.
We were upgraded to a suite because the completion of work on our booked room had been delayed. We have never experienced such luxury! The staff were wonderful, the on-site Pan fusion restaurant was excellent, and the hotel was stunning. It was right on the esplanade with a short walk to the city centre.
