Comfort is just decent, could add at least sofas in the living room... No one wants to rest on a wooden chair after hours of driving

The shower was minuscule and the hot water came and went. The lodge is in the middle of nowhere so nothing else to do unless you drive into Killin.

    Wonderful breakfast and nice hosts.

Close to the road which might be disturbing. Otherwise nothing to call out.

We had very nice dinner and breakfast, and stylish room! We felt welcome and homie. The owners are also super nice and helpful. Alao they have very good coffee and best walnut hummus I have ever eaten. I recommend this place as it is stylish, warm and welcoming.

the standard room that we were assigned to did not match with the pictures shown on the internet. small bathroom ( probably a previous small wardrobe within room I would say from the door’s style). the room was with holes and staines on the celling and cracked wall. No internet is provided by the host and poor coverage phone signal service.

Whilst there are certainly the remains of an old lodge such as a few old photos and some old taxidermied animals randomly dotted about, there is an odd juxtaposition between that, and garish modern fittings that appear in some cases functional, and in others; entirely questionable. The old servants quarters serve as the bedrooms on the highest floor, unfortunately the rooms have been cut into and partitioned so that in each room there appears a large block newly built into the walls, which is the bathroom of the next room; and as a guest you can hear everything that occurs in the bathrooms either side of you; since they are literally in your bedroom. The food on the menu came entirely out of packets and jars and no actual dinner menu exists beyond the processed and packaged.

The bed was not uncomfortable and the staff made an effort.

Excellent food, but the accommodation was more hostel than hotel
    • Leisure trip

The accommodation was disappointing overall. We were given an attic room which had a distinct damp smell and lacked ventilation. We did inform the owner of the damp smell and requested a room change. However, rather than acknowledging my feedback, I was told categorically that the room did not smell of damp and that if we wanted to change rooms it would be an extra £150 charge per night. We declined this option as we already felt we were paying over the true value for the accommodation. We were hoping for a restful stay, however the walls were extremely thin and I was woken up most hours of the night by the sound of the guests next door turning on lights, using the facilities and blowing their nose! Unfortunately the busy road outside could be heard from the room, however this noise did reduce at night as the traffic died down. The beds were reasonably comfy but admittedly not what I was expecting for the price.

The breakfast was delicious. Fresh, well cooked food. Lots of variety and exciting takes on traditional recipes. Lovely service and very friendly staff who catered for dietary needs really well. The bar was well stocked with local whiskeys to try and the decor in the breakfast and bar area added atmosphere. The room was exceptionally clean.

room in the attic ok ( three flights of stairs) but bed and pillows hard too hard for me. maybe fine for others. The evening menu was very limited .. could go with a bowl of hearty soup, especially as it’s often used as a stopping point for people travelling around Scotland .

nice contemporary style , good music and friendly staff , nice breakfasts, individually cooked.

There is a feeling that more time is required to finish decorating some of the building.

A bit Hoxton in the Highlands - relaxed style which suited me

Pictures made the hotel look remote but actually it is beside a quite busy road. They were very clear about no wifi and no mobile signal but I would have liked the option. The shower was very feeble. no sound proofing between us and the room to our right which meant we could hear every word they said and their morning shower felt like it was taking place in our room. 3rd floor and no assistance with luggage.

The style and decor of the place were great. There was a relaxed 'unhotel' like atmosphere with a bar and a beautiful large room with tables and chairs where you could play cards and enjoy drinks or food. The menu was limited to sharing boards but the food on offer was very tasty and a good standard. The cheese tasting and whisky board was fabulous and only £14.50 - highly recommended. The home cured salmon was also a highlight. Immaculately toasted sourdough bread and a good cooked breakfast in the morning. The owners were very friendly and explained how they were in the process of rennovations which was why our room had an old shower which I struggled to get working. There is only one first floor fully renovated room at the moment - I would think that would be the room to book. We had one of the four rooms in the roof. I would definitely return.

Great alternative decor with some really creative touches. Sumptuous carpet and bed, very calming place. Friendly hosts who provide a very good G&T and great food. Views are outstanding. My partner visited the guest WC and came back and said, " that is the cleanest toilets I have ever been in!"

Could not fault the property. Arriving after dark made it a little confusing to find the way in from the main road. Perhaps extra directional signs would help.

If you are looking for a friendly hotel, with up to date, stylish, comfortable room with all mod cons then look no further. We booked here as a halfway overnight stop on our way to Mallaig. We will definitely visit again, hopefully soon.

Walls are paper thin so we heard every word from the bathroom next door, low water pressure in the shower in the room on the top floor and the bed was a bit squeaky.

We liked the restaurant and the food, the bed was comfy with warm bedding and the owners were lovely.
