The bedrooms are great, but there is a lot of door slamming into the night while people settle in. and if you room is above the bar, it's quite noisy.

A big problem for me was the lighting in the room. There was no central light but only small wall lamps. The worst disappointment for me was that I was unable to read in bed as the wall lamps were to each side of the bed and did not give enough light over the bed.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The staff were very helpful .When I requested a second chair for the bedroom, it was quickly provided. The shower was very good but the blind at the window didn’t work.

Communication around food. We arrived late after a very long journey only to discover the kitchen was closed and we had to go out again exhausted to find something. Allegedly someone was supposed to call us, but they hadn’t. Next morning we went down at 10.05 to be told breakfast was 8-10 and closed - even though the email we had received told us 11am. Guests can only work with what they are told and Booking.com information seems to be out of date, so would recommend calling ahead to check policies.

We just couldn't sleep a bit due to constant noise (squeaky, brawl) throughout the night. Though we were later told that it was due to unruly guest(s) but There seems to be no caretaker/supervisor in the night to handle such issue(s). Guest(s) are completely left on their own to deal with it. When we later reported the incident to the Front desk in the morning, didn't felt they have any sense of accountability. Poorly managed. Hot breakfast food (which is chargeable) quality isn't great at all. Better to just use free continental breakfast instead.

Bar and bartender service was amazing. Room size is appropriate and was kept very clean along with bathroom. Plenty of parking spaces around the property.

No drinking water provided in the room. Dirty blind in the bathroom. Continental breakfast included but a bit poor, just an instant coffee sachet and couldn't work out how to get the hot water out of the machine so gave up.

Lovely country pub and conveniently located. Spacious room and bed. Friendly staff. Overall, a pleasant stay and value for money.

We had room 7 which was lovely but the shower cubicle was in the bedroom not the bathroom which I wasn’t keen on.

Excellent value. Staff were really friendly and very hard working in what are difficult times. We both had the fillet steak which was very good. I had the continental breakfast which was plentiful, my husband had the full English and again it was very good. We have a dog and it’s very dog friendly.

unfortunately I stayed in the hope of having something to eat and an early night, the soundproofing from the room above was terrible. I could hear the person upstairs talking loudly from about 8.45pm until I knocked on the ceiling at 1.30am. Could here them walking around constantly too. Bad nights sleep couldn’t get any hot water from the shower , Luke warm ….

We stay here year after year (but unable to during 2020 due to COVID). On our recent visit we were told the hotel is under new ownership and management and there was a lot of work being done to upgrade the bar area. We were also informed that as some rooms require slight attention, they would be moving onto the accommodation too. Good to know that the new owners are giving the place the love and attention it requires. The staff were excellent too. The new Manager Brian, was attentive and accommodating to any requests.

My only issues was that my room seems like it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. Like it has had tidies but it hasn’t been cleaned properly to the edges for a while. The bed seemed nice and clean which was a plus however it was dusty around the room especially in the bathroom where I could see the gathered dust/fluff on the floor and the shower really needed a thorough cleaning.

It was a really lovely place. My room was a very good size, had all of the normal amenities you would expect from a good hotel and the bed was spacious and very comfortable. I went down for dinner in the newly renovated restaurant that evening and had their haddock and chips. It was fantastic! Also the staff were so friendly and helpful too. This really helped me feel more comfortable and welcome which was so important for me as I was there alone and a little nervous. So thank you.

Not a lot to dislike but Roast Dinner was just ok with gravy a bit runny. Hotel was having a 4 day day refurbishment on the Monday so breakfast was a bit restricted with workman starting work while we eat but generally acceptable But We would stay there again once its ready!!

Ideal location for our trip back from Essex to Devon. Very friendly staff and also helped with a dog bed for our Yorkshire Terrier. Room was excellent and slept well

We arrived as they undertook decorating the bar area so when we came down for breakfast the place was full of painters and dust sheets. We were only there for one night for a family funeral the next day. We weren't warned about the disruption. If we had of been we probably would have chosen another place.

Rooms were lovely and spacious, bed very comfy. Evening meal was lovely.
