The only criticism I have is that there was some discoloured grout in the shower. But this was not enough to be a problem.

The Chequers is a very traditional English pub and provides very spacious and comfortable accommodation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent.

Room 2 Twin room beds too small and enough room to upgrade to devan beds, friend fell out of bed as beds were so small. Also drains smelt awful when brushing teeth and water running, think drain cleaner needs to be used regular.

The cleanliness for the price point didn’t necessarily meet our standards. Our room was on the smaller side - had we known from the photos we would have booked a larger one.

Wonderful location, cozy exterior, pub, and garden. Good service (the lady in the mornings was exceptional), hearty pub food. Car park was very convenient.

we had the superior double room and it was very clean and tidy as was the bathroom,the shower is excellent,have to wait a bit for the hot water to come through but worth it.evening meals are excellent and a good choice,breakfast the same with a good choice.would stay again if in the area and recommend to family and friends even strangers.

Fabulous location, accommodation, food and staff. Had two dinners, both amazing. lovely breakfast too. room was very nice, with new decor and pretty views. Staff were great - we had forgotten to book dinner, but they managed to squeeze us in both nights - was so grateful as I was up there for a26 mile charity hike -they were very kind and supportive - swapped out my breakfast day one (as I was leaving at 7am!) for a lovely sandwich to take with me. Beautiful location on a country toad all on it's own - lovely views though the trees.

The mattress was the only slight negative in the whole experience, it was a bit tired and needed replacing, but it was a small thing and didn't detract from the stay.

Had dinner in the evening, exceptional, service food and place were fabulous. Breakfast as good as anywhere you could go, and the young boy and girl were pleasant, helpful and so happy to chat if needed.

Our main concern was the road . Not the hotels fault but the traffic does not abide by the 30 mph limit. If I could make a constructive comment on our room , the bathroom was a little tired ,

Great staff , very knowledgeable and assisted with our planning for outings etc. loved the breakfast and they actually had de-caffeinated tea and coffee for the wife . Comfortable rooms and spotless cleaning by the team . Evening meals first class cuisine.

An earlier start to breakfast would be handy for the organised hike we were on, but I should have called beforehand to check this.

The host was so welcoming, helpful and accommodating; the food delicious and presented beautifully; our twin room was spacious and very comfortable. Perfect place to return to after a long hike!

My only disappointment was the shower - slow power shower but to be honest it was minor and everything outweigh it

Lovely location in the Peak District - highly recommended and would go back again. The bed, the room was nice and brilliant for a base for our visit to the District. Staff were friendly and brilliant as they accommodated us last minute for Saturday night dinner.

There was nothing that I didn’t like we were well catered for and looked after. And the management and staff could do no more for us they were quite simply excellent through out.

Location, staff were absolutely excellent and went the extra mile to accommodate our requests, rooms more than adequate and the food was superb and served with a smile
