I didn't spend enough time here, will definately be back in the warmer months to experience the amazing gardens and local area better.

It's something a little different, nice old fashioned themed hotel, lovely quirky rooms, excellent food. We stayed in Angelica, a family room which is right at the front of the hotel, and yet we weren't disturbed by the road right outside the window, a pleasant surprise. My daughter and wife couldn't keep off the swing in the room, a really fun addition.

My only slight niggle was there could have been a bit more choice for the breakfasts. Smoked salmon with the poached eggs, for e.g. It was a bit limited what was on offer, although they did offer kippers. Also, no fresh fruit available on the breakfast counter - we had to ask for some - and no yoghurt. I'm not sure what provision there was for vegans, either. No mention of it. I'm not vegan but these days you do expect it to be on the breakfast menu as alternative choices.

A really lovely place to stay. Unusual with lots of history and very interesting gardens. You can tell it's a family-owned and -run place, a lot of care and attention to detail and the customer experience. Breakfast was good, lovely local bacon and sausages, all beautifully cooked. We also had dinner the night before and it was absolutley delicious! The bed was super comfy, too. Will definitely stay again.

Slightly too cluttered with curios.

Quirky rooms. Really good food & interesting food. Less-good on the ale front (real ales are put through a chiller, sadly). Lady in charge was very welcoming and charming.

The standard room was very small and carpet here and in hall could benefit from a deep clean. The breakfast lacked gf choice.

The garden was charming and original. The hotel and bar were historic quirky and fun. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good.. A pleasant stay.

We came for a weekend away here and could not fault it. The bedroom was unreal four poster bed big roll bath tub. Quirky little things around the hotel you just kept noticing. The outdoor garden area was so enchanting and romantic. Absolutely beautiful. The food was outstanding. The service was second to non. The lovely owner we think....her efficency and hard work was amazing, she couldn't do enough for us. We felt really comfortable and Homely. We will definitely revisit.
