Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNot a big problem but worth noting that the on site car park is rather small, costs £10 per night and gets blocked by deliveries, so we took the receptionist's advice and parked in the municipal carpark a few minutes walk away for £5.60p.
Excellent location, comfortable room, lovely shower and delicious food. Breakfast was perfect. Staff were very welcoming. It is located just inside the ancient walled town, so it feels as if you are within a castle wall!

United KingdomIt might be too early in the season as maybe they are trying to find their feet but the food side of our stay was disappointing.
The evening meal was disappointing. Still had the pre-pandemic app ordering. Very impersonal. The meal istelf was also disappointing. The breakfast was cooked well but basic just egg, sausage, bacon and beans. Expected to eat dinner in the medieval restaurant but was shown to what I will call a canteen/breakfast area. The building is very nice and quirky and one of the best pints of Guiness I've had for some time. Pity the the sevice side of our stay was a let down.

United KingdomStaff at night (bar/waiting staff) not overly friendly. Also the bathroom in our room was great, had a bath which i would have loved to have used but no soaps are provided (I always take my own shampoo/shower gel-would have took my own bath soap had I known was a bath in room).
Location very good, lady on reception lovely, room very nice size and very clean - also huge telly which was great

United KingdomNot bad but due to it being an old building the floors are very creaky. Room above me got up 5 times in the night which woke me up every single time but if they were normal people not getting up that many times in the night it would have been fine.
Staff were really friendly. Perfect little hotel in the most perfect spot. I would definitely stay again if I was travelling to north wales.

United KingdomAccess is a little bit limited as the road is blocked off by the pub and the next door car park is £10/night (council owned) but there is a bigger car park 5 mins walk which the hotel will give you a feee pass for.

United KingdomNothing. I don't think I could find anything to complain about.
The building is exceptional, very quaint and beautiful with amazing original features. Excellent pub with a choice of bars and dining areas all with blazing real fires and a comfortable atmosphere. I could have just sat in there all day. Great choice of beers too. Breakfast was equally as good and all the staff were great. There was no parking available on site but the hotel did pay for our stay at a nearby car park just 4 minutes walk away. Our bedroom was well appointed with its own separate sitting area. 2 tv's, one in the bedroom and another in the sitting room. Another area with a desk and wardrobe, the bedroom itself with a king size bed and separate bathroom. Overall, a very comfortable stay.

United KingdomI personally didn’t rate the coffee. I like expresso and the coffee served at breakfast is more like a filter coffee. The portions at dinner were equally enormous. I should suggest that you share one main dish between two, or alternatively, choose from the children’s menu. In the bedroom, (room 62 ) watch your head on the wall television as you exit the bathroom. Also I found the two pillows much too hard and solid. I should much prefer one at least to be soft and much thinner.
Very good breakfast, but be warned, all portions are enormous!! The smoked salmon ( with scrambled egg ) was delicious- but there were four huge slices. The service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. The bed was large and comfortable and the linen good.

United KingdomThe shower worked as such but it was freezing cold and it was proper attached to the wall in one position which was not good - the wife had a strip wash as we wanted to go down to our evening meal in decent time - we were on one of the top floors which may have had something to do with it. The Black Boy looked real old fashioned and it was, but we stayed in a separate building - Black Jacks which seemed really modern and we were hoping for some spooky activity but nothing happened. Also it is a first come first served basis when you go for your evening meal and we were very lucky we just happened to get a table for two and it does get rather busy there in an evening.
When we arrived they gave us something to put in our car and we parked in another car park free of charge. The staff were friendly enough and our room was a decent size with a sea view, the tv was okay and we had biscuits with our drinks. The evening meal was nice and so was the full cooked breakfast. It's also not too far from the mountains - and I would say it would take you about forty to forty five minutes to get to Llanberis pass if you wanted to do the Snowdon Horseshoe via Crib Goch or about twenty five minutes to Llanberis to go up Snowdon Railway when it's open, we've also done the Sygun Copper Mines, from here at Beddgelert they're good fun - but you need decent footwear.
