Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesYou buttoned up the outside area very early. I would have liked to have sat outside longer, or maybe enjoyed a cocktail after dinner outside. I felt almost pushed out by the umbrellas being dropped all around me.
Dinner was excellent. Although, seated alone, I felt overlooked at times. Bigger tables make more money.

United KingdomOnly relevant to the suites, I expect, but to have a wardrobe downstairs, not in the bedroom, is a bit strange. Conversely, to have to go upstairs to fill the kettle is a nuisance! Due to the slope of the roof, the bedroom has very little headroom on one side. I imagine the room staff must be issued with crash helmets! Personally I didn't sleep that well, mainly down to the pillows, but that's probably my fault. The suite is showing signs of wear and tear, but no deal breakers. Food-wise, for the price I'd expect biscuits in the room, and someone doesn't know how to poach eggs at breakfast. The whites shouldn't be liquidy and greasy. Not that I can cook an egg either, but I'm no chef! I have no allergies, but I am on a restricted diet, and there wasn't any cereal I was supposed to eat, just granola and muesli. Suggest some ordinary cereals, like Weetabix, as well. Cost would be minimal.
Position, good looking building, lovely grounds, useful car parking. Clean, quiet room, good shower, adequate toilet flush. Good sized lounge. Staff I met mostly pleasant and helpful. It was good that they had herbal tea at breakfast, and the English head man in the dining room was good. Generally, the stay was ok, if nothing special.

United StatesThe soup was excellent but the other meals weren’t what we expected. The staff was very nice which helped make up for the lackluster food.
Beds were extremely comfortable, nice fluffy towels and room was very roomy. Having free available parking was such a great benefit.

United KingdomThe food offering is poor. It seems that all efforts are put into minimising the food offer. Example is a limited breakfast offer, with no breakfast items laid out, offering a choice of breakfast starters. It seemed all portion controlled under the disguise of table service. When hot breakfast delivered to the table it was obvious that eggs for example had been under hot plates and were just not nice.
Wonderful location, and nice property

United StatesOnly complaint would be if you were looking for a super charming vibe … the outside has it in spades but the interior less so … the room/dining room didn’t have that cozy #cottagecore feel I was hoping for. Totally adequate clean but just not incredibly charming
Location was really lovely, loved how sweet lower slaughter was to walk around in the morning and felt like a little secret spot. Great location to then do all the Cotswold hotspots from there! Staff was so so friendly.

United KingdomThe only downside was the girl Woking the bar on the night of the 2nd. My husband ordered a cheese board and had it set up by the fire. I followed down 5 mins later to find the bar maid chatting up the husband. I didn’t mind this but her attitude once she saw me and for the rest of the night was shocking. She was very rude! I went to the bar and ordered a drink…she didn’t say a word to me just smirked and slammed my drink down. No hello or thank u! For a 5* establishment it isn’t good enough, show a little respect to customers that’s all. Not sure if this is how she is all the time? Other than this a great couple of days away
Such a beautiful hotel, quirky but welcoming and cosy. Second time visiting and it doesn’t disappoint. From the moment I booked, the staff on reception were very helpful. Bed comfortable, spacious and cosy. Breakfast was great too! The staff working on the morning of the 3rd were exceptional, on point and smartly dressed. Excellent service well done! Really is a beautiful place in an idyllic setting…stunning.

GermanyDrink glasses left on tables in the bar and in the gardens not being cleaned away. Sat at one table for one hour and the next one did not have the glasses and bottles removed in all that time: not good for an AA five star establishment.
Very good restaurant and wide choice served breakfast. Location is superb and has a lovely garden area.
