The cost of the breakfast seemed excessive (£12.50) so I didn't take it - preferring a local cafe.

The hotel is ideally placed and in easy walking distance of many of the sights that Halifax has to offer. On site free parking that was much appreciated.

No hot water coming through hot tap but turn cold tap on hot water comes through cold tap. The room was too warm even the window was open and the radiator was off couldn't sleep at night as was too warm for somebody that has high blood pressure and asthma.

Bathroom and bedding spotless but room would benefit from a little dusting.

The breakfast was lovely excellent value for money. Staff friendly and willing to help. The location of The Wool Merchant was ideal, very short walk into the centre of Halifax.

Mattress bit thin. Entrance unassuming with 1/2 stair up to reception, tricky if mobility challenged.

Great ample breakfast. Large shower room. Good view. Centrally located opposite Minster, close to historic Peace Hall, etc. Friendly unobtrusive staff.

The carpets are a bit grubby and it could do with a makeover but I am not complaining as they are trying hard and it was good value for money. Because we went for breakfast at 7am we missed the delicious looking croissants which came out just as we were leaving!

The staff were friendly and helpful - especially the man on reception. The rooms were comfy enough and well-equipped enough. The location is very good, near to Halifax Minster

Restaurant and bar only open until 9.30 Smokers congregated outside front door on pavement. No ashtrays therefore unsightly mess. Is there not a smoking kiosk in hotel grounds??

Breakfast was excellent. Reasonably priced, good choice, very friendly service. Free parking, although not easy when hotel full. After three moves we got a very comfortable, spacious room Location wonderful for access to town centre and areas of interest Good restaurant food

All in all a good value hotel very close to the city centre; bus & train station and all the sights
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Standard Double Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

The cleanliness of the room was a little short as the bedside tables have not been pulled away from the wall for sometime as there was a deep layer of black dust (shows the age) on the skirting board where the table sat. There was also an old cotton bud lying behind the bathroom door. The car park does not suit the number of rooms the hotel served. and because there are no defined bays people park haphazardly. I ended up on both my nights stay parking in the public car park opposite the hotel, while costs wise is good value, it is not satisfactory; especially as you have to log your registration in the hotel foyer.

The breakfast is buffet style and very good value. However, it might be better to have the cooked meal plates available warm as on the second day by the time we sat down to eat the cooked breakfast it was considerably cooler than when removed from the Bain Marias. The room we were in (301) had a gorgeous deep bath with plenty of hot water to ease my tired muscles after a gruelling day of sightseeing in the centre of Halifax.
