How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our room did not have its own bathroom and we had to use the hosts upstairs bathroom. This was not a problem for us because our hosts were very discreet and kind, but it’s not for everyone.
Very kind and generous hosts. We were travelling by bicycles and we could store our bikes in a safe location. We were offered delicious homemade cake and coffee on arrival. The breakfast was very good with eggs, yogourt, cereal and homemade cake. The room was quiet at night and the guesthouse is close to the centro storico and the sea front. We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

Only separate, on the hall (private) bathroom was a small inconvenience.
Excellent location few minutes walk from old town. Spacy room and bathroom. Very tasty breakfast with sandwiche and eggs. Nice owners.

Amazing apartment just 10 minutes of walk from the very centr of Alghero. Communication with the owner was very easy in advance. Both him And his wife were really friendly and recommended us some places to go, visit. Breakfast was 100% home made and really good! Parking of a car is free in the street just in front of the appartment. We can totally recomend to stay here 😉

Everything was perfect!
I like the location a lot, less than a kilometer from the busy town, you get a sense of the local life...The breakfast was beyond perfect with fresh juice, pie, eggs etc...The hosts were so friendly that reminded me why I like Italians. The bedroom has everything you need, with a very comfortable bed and a lot of store places to leave your luggage. The bathroom has a bathing tub and it's very stylish. I would definitely recommend the place!

This property is a little out of the main city centre but that made parking much more achievable. The owners are absolutely delightful people. The guest house was their home and we were their guests. We were greeted with coffee. Great recommendations for food were given. Breakfast was generous and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Everything was perfect, the hosts were amazing,very kind and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, much food and drinks. Even if we travelled in october everything was great. We highly recomend the place. Thank you Liana and Roberto for the warm welcome and all the advice you gave us to visit places which were nice and not crowded. We wish you all the best, Francisco, Izabella and Sz.!

Great spot, within walking distance to the main areas. The rooms are quite basic but comfortable. The common area is lovely with a nice coffee machine and other utensils. I would recommend for a short stay in Alghero.

A very welcoming couple. They went out of their way to help us, as we were able to postpone our overnight stay due to a plane cancellation. They gave us all the information we needed to visit Alghero and the surrounding area, lots of useful tips, and at the same time the breakfast is excellent and carefully prepared!

Bathrom is clean and quite comfortable but located upstairs outside the room.
Very nice and helpful host. Excellent welcome coffee. Clean, big, airconditioned, and quiet room. Good breakfast served with 😃 as requested 6:30 a.m.

We had a wonderful colorful appartement with two bedrooms. The kitchen was very well equipped. From the balcony we had a stunning view over alghero. We could wash our clothes.
