The view from the guesthouse is hard to beat, probably the best in town. But what made the stay was the family. The mother runs everything smoothly and makes you feel so at home. Their daughter Ana is 12 and speaks perfect English helping us with everything we needed. She’s also really good at volleyball! Sami, the father, is a also a guide. We hired him because there was still snow on the trails and we weren’t sure what to expect. He got us through without any issues and we felt so safe the whole way with him. We wished we’d stayed longer. Good people, great place! Do not hesitate to stay here!

Guethouse Mountain was exactly what we were looking for: authentic, private, and peaceful, with a beautiful location in the mountains. There was a stunning view of the mountains from the balcony, where we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. We had fresh eggs from the property’s own hens for breakfast . Our host and the rest of the family were incredibly kind and welcoming, and the host spoke good English. The rooms were very clean, with comfortable, firm beds and a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Dinner could be ordered in advance, and it was possible to get sandwiches for hiking. All in all, a perfect place to enjoy the peace and nature of Valbone.

After spending 10 days exploring all of Albania, I can confidently say that the Stonehouse remains our fondest memory. Our host was incredibly welcoming and through his stories and unique perspective, he introduced us to Valbona and Albania in the most authentic way possible! :) He welcomed us with open arms, cooked us a TO DIE FOR dinner and breakfast, and gave us great advice on hiking tours. On our last day, he even drove us to the starting point and was ready to extend our stay due to bad weather.

To be honest, one of the best stays in Albania. The staff was so polite and kind where they asked us several times if we needed something. We also got the chance to speak with the owner because he was a guide himself for like 15 years and he helped us with a lot of information for the treks and everything. He was a gem to that place. We got to see a beautiful baby around who was the highlight. She was so beautiful and happy kid. Would always wave at us. So precious! The food was delicious. It was a set meal for 16 euros per person and included everything you could ask for. My partner who is a vegetarian and gluten free got vegetable instead of meat and a pie with corn flower instead of byrek ( their traditional pie). I got amazed how they also respected his needs because in Albania he has suffered a bit to eat because of this. The breakfast included cheese, honey( which was homemade), boiled eggs, butter, jam and some really delicious pancakesss. Omg loved loved them. They also offered picnic lunch for the hikers which was 5 euros per person. It had everything you need for picnic and to be honest beside cucumber, tomato, salami, cheese, apple, bread they also managed to fry different kind of vegetables who made it more complete and delicious. So in overall an amazing stay and so pity I didn’t reserved for two nights or more because I wanted to stay more but they were fully booked.

The owner was very accomodating. He drove us to the start of the Valbone-Theth hiking trail in the morning (which saved us a 45 min walk!). The setting was lovely- nice place to sit in the evening outside and enjoy a drink. No aircon in the room - but it isn't needed as the place stays cool even in the hottest summer months. THE VIEW! Spectacular view from the accomodation at all angles.

Nice accommodation run by a friendly family. They provide a simple but tasty and nutritious dinner and breakfast. Situated somewhere in the middle of the town, the location is very practical when you start (or finish) you hike here. I enjoyed my stay!

OMG! What a place! Valbona is a hidden gem of Albania. We stayed for a week and loved every moment. This accommodation is nestled in the forest, with incredibly clean air and the best connection to nature. The family who runs the place is very kind and lovely. They offered us homemade traditional food, which we absolutely loved. The place is clean, traditional, and just like the photos. We will definitely be back. Lots of love from a family visiting from France. Highly recommend!
