I had an amazing stay at Quinta do Planalto! The hosts were wonderful, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. The location is perfect for hiking and exploring the beautiful island of Santo Antão. An unexpected gem! The property is run by Gilda, who is on site and attentive to guests every day. The accommodation is clean and the home-made food from Gilda’s kitchen is lovely, fresh (eg fish) and tasty. The mountain facing the accommodation is awesome to wake up to and it reflects light in a spectacular way. GIlda also makes her own infused rums and jams, and you can find her brand at the airport too.

We had a lovely stay at MeloMar Rooms in Ponta do Sol. The accommodation is very central (about 5 mins from just about everything in town) and is clean and comfortable. We had a huge room with a balcony and a very modern en-suite bathroom. A big benefit for us was also the well equipped shared kitchen which meant we could cook for ourselves on a couple of nights. But the best thing about the stay was our hosts, they were kind and friendly and although they didn’t speak much English and we don’t speak much Portuguese, we made it all work just fine! In particular they helped us out when we got the timing wrong for the morning aluguer to Porto Novo - they phoned around and then went out into the square to help find a driver that was willing to to take us in time for our transfer. Amazing. Thank you - I hope we can come back and stay again some time.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Pedrina. The food was great, the room really nice, the personnel super friendly and helpul, the hikes in the area wonderful. Our stay was even better due to the street dog that seems to live there now. He followed us during all our hikes in these 2 days. We hope he'll guide so many more visitors in the future, he is amazing! Our suggestion for his name: Chupa :D. Please pet him from us of you see him!
