This was by far our favorite stay of the trip - an absolute dream of a place for an artist couple who loves the sea and midcentury modern design. This house had ample room for us, everything we needed, and breathtaking views from the glassed in porch where we could sip coffee or sake alike. The garden leading up to the beach was marvelous. The location was a quick bike ride from the ferry and a great jump-off for all our biking adventures during our trip. We only wished we had stayed longer! Looking forward to our return!

Our last accommodation was a 13 sq. meter hotel room. The Yellow House was like a mansion after that accommodation with a kitchen, 3 beds, living room, and washing machine. We even had the use of two push bikes. The fridge was loaded with bread, fruit, butter, jam, and yogurt. What a treat! What a gracious host!

From the onset, our hosts Kuni and Akkie were extremely responsive and helfpul, providing information about booking bicycle rentals (a must on Naoshima), restaurants and even which restaurants to book based on our itinerary, museum viewing appointments and location in proximity to various venues. One of our best meals in Japan was at a small restaurant (only holds about 10-12 guests) they recommended called Perma, run by a young chef who prepared the meal and did everything else! They also recommended New Olympia which was also very good. The house was perfect for us - a traditional home with tatami rooms and more than enough space for my wife and I. It would also work well for a family of four, except that you would all be sleeping together in the same room. There is only one bathroom, although sink, toilet and bath are all in separate rooms and can be used at the same time. I spent a lot of time going through the many art and design books, many of which I hadn't seen before. The house is in a small village, just steps from the sea and there's a bus stop less than 100 metres away. Also, close by is the workshop Rumina Naoshima, run by Kiyo-san, who makes crafts out of tatami. Kuni and Akkie really went above and beyond - picking us up at the ferry dock and arranging our bicycle rental which was across the street from the ferry terminal. The house is about a 10 minute drive (or 15 min. bike ride) from the Miyanoura ferry terminal. There is a 7-11 in Miyanoura (really the only place to buy groceries and supplies if you want to prepare meals or eat at the house).

This property is an amazing off the beaten path guest house for travelers looking for a unique experience. The home is full with records, manga, and old tech and is filled to the brim with cool stuff. The host cooked us the MOST INCREDIBLE meal for dinner and breakfast was amazing as well. He left us the run of the guest house and we really enjoyed everything.

There is very little more than can be said on top of the 5 star review I am giving this property run by a beautiful couple on a beautiful island. We came for the art and we're lucky to be accommodated in a little museum of its own. Kuni and Akkie were attentive and generous hosts who provided the perfect relaxing holiday that accentuated our amazing art-centric experience on Naoshima and Teshima island. We loved every moment.

Lovely owner, great location, we were very happy to find a nice and affordable place to stay at the Island. Accommodation fits right into the whole artsy vibe of the island. Owner had great tips for restos, where to swim and bath house.

The accomodation was very clean, well set up and in a great location just metres from the beach. It was situated in beautiful gardens and our hosts picked us up and dropped us off to the port. We highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I have been in Japan for three weeks travelling all over, and Kagawagun House was the best accomodation we stayed in! It is a beautiful traditional Japanese house that is very spacious and has excellent facilities. The photos don’t do the house justice! It is in an excellent location, just near Honmura port, and the host, Masako went above and beyond to look after us during our stay. Excellent value for money on Naoshima!

We loved staying in Honmura - quiet and access to everything. Art houses, bike hire (TVC - just text the number on the wall and they will meet you), the museums, greet coffee and restaurants. Easy buses and ferries to other areas. This accommodation was great and the host very hospitable. The breakfast was good, we wrapped it up and took it on our adventures. We stayed in winter and found that the room was well heated. We had to double up our bedding for comfort and warmth.

we really enjoyed our stay here. the apartment was very clean, had comfortable beds and a small kitchen (where you could cook yourself). You could use the e-bikes and explore the island. There was also a TV with a Netflix account to relax after an exciting day. The staff Aio was very nice and picked us up from the port and brought us back there when we left. She also gave us tips on how to make the best use of our time on the island. We felt very comfortable and can only recommend the accommodation.

The host was extremely kind and nice, we really liked her. The room was very clean and nice. It is not big, but has everything that you need. The balcony is amazing as you can see the waves below. The shower was also exceptionally good compared to other accommodations we stayed in before. The host also provides a shuttle from the port which is very comfortable.

Accommodation in a traditional Japanese house Amazing hosts who don't see such generosity and concern for guests in any holiday home. They made sure to pick us up with a taxi from the ferry port and at the end of our stay, they o drop us off at the port with their private car. The location is near the sea and you can easily walk to the beautiful Naoshima museums.
