The owner is reluctant to use the air conditioning, so it gets very hot in the rooms at night without it. The shower water pressure is low, and there's often no toilet paper. The owner gets upset if you wash clothes at the sink. Aside from being a larger place with a yard, there's nothing good about it. There are surveillance cameras everywhere, even in the bedrooms, meaning you're constantly being monitored while sleeping. Every time I go to the toilet, the owner squats in the adjacent bathroom until I come out. In the morning, there are two slices of toast and an egg; the owner is very stingy. There are signs everywhere reminding guests to turn off the lights. The hygiene is poor; the sheets are acrylic-polyester, the white paint on the walls is peeling, and you can occasionally see insects on the bed. Every morning after the free breakfast, even though it's not yet 11 am check-out time, the owner comes to ask if I'm staying. I haven't done anything to offend him, but he always seems uncomfortable with me, especially his wife, whose name I don't even know and whom I've never spoken to. Every time she sees me, she turns her face away and looks at me with hatred. What a weirdo! I haven't offended her. Am I supposed to fawn over the hotel owner because I'm paying for accommodation? Am I supposed to be beholden to your attitude because I'm paying for services?
