Famous for its glitzy film festival, Cannes spans a wide bay and has designer shops and grand villas. Protected by a sea wall to the east, Antibes has a Picasso museum in its castle.
Nice is the Riviera’s largest city and Nice Airport is France’s 3rd busiest. Known for the Promenade des Anglais and large squares, it houses most Cote d’Azur hotels on the beach on Booking.com. Next door Villefranche-sur-Mer has brightly coloured façades at the water’s edge and is separated by a promontory from dramatically located Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
The region’s most easterly town is Menton, at the foot of the Alps, while glamorous Monaco is home to an F1 Grand Prix, and a world-famous casino and royal family.
