Our stay with the jungle guide team in Bukit Lawang was truly a highlight of our trip to Sumatra! From start to finish, everything about the experience was seamless and unforgettable. We booked everything directly with them, and it couldn’t have been easier. Yussuf, the very nice driver, picked us up from the airport and drove us to the accommodation, making the start of our adventure stress-free. Upon arrival, the entire team welcomed us warmly, and we felt comfortable right away. The location of the accommodation was absolutely incredible—nestled in the middle of the green and above a waterfall, it was the perfect escape into nature. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was always full of good vibes and laughter. We also booked the jungle trek with them, and it was beyond amazing. Our guide, Wahyu, was exceptional! He shared so much knowledge about the jungle, gave us all the time we needed to soak it all in, and made the trek unforgettable. Thanks to him, we saw 9 orangutans and had some truly magical moments in the wild. The entire team was so lovely and fun to be around—they really made our stay special. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend everyone to stay here and book the jungle tour with them. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

One of the best homestays I’ve stayed at in my 4 months of traveling SE Asia. Very comfortable private room with great air conditioning. Fantastiskt och lugnt läge i utkanten av byn med älv och djungel utsikt med apor i direkt närhet. Här bor du privat på djungel-sidan av älven på en famliljär lodge med endast 2 bungalows. Vi hade en orangutan på lodgen en morgon. Bästa service och omtanke från personalen. Man blir mycket väl omhändertagen. Ska du gå djungel trekking, boka med lodgen. Verkligen proffsig, kunnig och lyhörd guide.

Sumatran Ethical Expeditions and Trekking ligger i Bukit Lawang och har en trädgård, en terrass, en restaurang och en bar. Det här boendet erbjuder både familjerum och en lekplats. We had the best time at Sumatra expedition lodge. The room was spacious, clean and had air con and a fan. The family were lovely and the workers were so friendly and helpful. We had amazing meals at the lodge (our favourite the tempeh rengdeng). We also did a jungle trek organised by the lodge. We had the most incredible day with our tour guide Oman and his helper Onkey (sorry if wrong spelling). Oman was so great with 20 plus years of experience in the jungle he was so knowledgeable and we saw so much beautiful jungle and wildlife. He also deeply cared about the environment and was a great advocate for animal wellbeing and safety. We were fortunate enough to see lots of monkeys and observe the orangutan’s up close. Definitely recommend 10/10
