It was perfectly quiet and dark at night, which made for the best sleep we had in Japan. The host was very helpful and thoughtful. There was free parking right outside which was a great bonus. We highly recommend staying here.

The email I got with all the information on how to find the hotel was super helpful. Food was brilliant, and the views with the outside gardens overseeing Kumamoto is amazing. The mix of the hotel and outside gardens, nature at the 8th floor of a building is gorgeous. The room has a bit if a tradional feel with a walk-in shower room and separate room for toilet. If you plan to visit Kumamoto or somewhere near, do consider staying at this hotel.

Open from September 2019, only 150 metres from JR Hakata Train Station, Miyako Hotel Hakata offers stylish rooms with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Unlike the Miyako in Kyoto, this 208-room property is not associated with Westin/Marriott. The hotel is relatively new, around four years old when writing this. We picked the Miyako Hotel Hakata for its excellent location right adjacent to the Hakata train station. The reception is on the third floor. The staff is friendly and professional, and the rooms are excellent - very spacious and bright. Fully equipped with any amenities you might need and with fantastic beds and pillows. The lights, curtains and drapes are controlled by a tablet on a bedside table. The hotel features a lovely outdoor pool on the top floor amd also has a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We tried the ten course dinner and it was very good. When in Fukuoka we will pick the Miyako again. One of the top hotels we have stayed at during our many hotel nights in Japan.
