The Japanese senior couple managing the pension are genuinely the sweetest people we could have dreamed of. Moomin Papa picked us up at the station at arrival and dropped us off (super early in the morning) after checkout. He drove us and the other guests in the morning to the ski resorts nearby and was also willing to pick us up in the afternoon. He was also great at giving dinner recommendations. The pension is simple and welcoming, breakfast is great and all we needed for a full day on the slopes. The onsen is a bit old but we didn’t mind. If you have very long hair it could take a while to dry with the available hairdryer - just to keep in mind. Rooms are nice and warm and the beds are comfortable. WiFi works well. Overall I would say it was a beautiful stay, the hosts and their care in everything they did made the experience 100 times better. Highly recommend!

Awesome cultural experience, convient to some of the best powder skiing, onsen soak after day of skiing, all staff - from the kindest owner to her Japanese and seasonal team from Australia was so helpful... overall the best!

The hosts were the most lovely people and we felt very cared for and looked after here!! Is perfect if you're wanting to stay near the Myoko ski resorts - can take the bus to all the best ski spots.

Authentic breakfast made and served by the owner. We had dinner one night that was delicious and well priced. There were no showers, only the onsen to use. Which was fine by us. The room was small but had the 4 beds we asked for and 3 blankets on each bed for comfortable nights. Lovely owner, although communication was mostly made with body language.

I stayed here once during ski season last year and had such a great time that I decided to stay again this year when I visited Myoko. The lodge has been stylishly renovated, and the dining area in particular is a great place to relax while taking in the view. The tatami rooms are equipped with cute low tables, giving them a Japanese feel. The futons and pillows are also comfortable, making for a great night's sleep. The loungewear provided in each room was very comfortable, and my friend liked it so much that she researched where to buy some when she got home! There are also separate large public baths for men and women, allowing us to relax and unwind. The staff were also very helpful and kind when we needed assistance. During ski season, the lift to the gondola is right across the lodge, making this the perfect location for skiing and snowboarding. There are only a few restaurants open within walking distance during winter time. Most of them are owned by a Australians.
