Miķelis is probably my favorite hotel in Latvia. Great service, great rooms. Safe, well organized with stuff to do around the premises (restaurant, old car exposition, historical buildings). Warm and clean. Family friendly. Great view at a small nearby pond. The staff takes real good care of the hotel and its surroundings. It shows. One of the few hotels I'd give more than 10 if I could.

Don't be put off by the first impression when you enter the stairwell. When you enter the apartment, it's like entering another dimension. The room is very clean, beautiful and very quiet and comfortable. Everything works flawlessly and the host is helpful and quick to respond to emails. So, once you get over the first scare, the overall impression is very good. ☺️

The kitchen was stocked with quality appliances, cookware, dishes, and utensils, along with all the essentials for cooking—such as oil, salt, tea, and coffee beans—all provided free of charge. A particularly nice touch was the "mini-bar" option, where you could conveniently select a drink and pay on the spot using a bank card.
