Rebuilt in 2014, Quest on Thorndon offers art deco-style apartments with free WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests receive free access to the CityFitness gym located next to the property. I like that they provide very decent shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Towels are plenty and there is a heat towel rack, a total luxury during cold, windy Wellington days. Their housekeeping standard is obviously very high, they make the bed even help washes the mugs and glasses.

Our host, Peter, was incredibly kind, generous, and knowledgeable about the best things to see and do in New Zealand. We arrived before the official check-in time, and he kindly let us park our car and leave some of our belongings in the room while he was still finishing the cleaning, which allowed us to take the train into Wellington City Centre without any hassle. We only stayed for one night, but it was truly the perfect stopover!
