The host was very accommodating and friendly. Helped us with our laundry, made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great. The beer was cold.

A great little town. Plenty to see and do.
A great little town. Plenty to see and do. Interesting shops as well as the usual supermarkets. There was a variety of playgrounds and a water park at the swimming pool. Easy to drive around to see what was happening. Great cafe for lunch and plenty to choose for an evening meal.

Home Hill was the place in which I was born and bred. The community is small, which makes it a great getaway for a relaxed reset from larger cities. It has all of the basics, and if you want a little more in terms of shopping, Ayr is just across the magnificent Silver Link - Burdekin bridge. Tennis is a popular sport in the Burdekin and you'll be sure to find many welcoming faces and connection to new friends. The beaches are not too far away and the Home Hill swimming pool is top shelf. The rest stop in Home Hill is extremely popular with clean amenities and cooking facilities. It is a thriving sugar cane area, with eye-catching cane fires and the resultant "Burdekin Snow" - cane ash - from June through to November. Inkerman Hill, just south of Home Hill offers some wonderful views and is a good cardio workout for the health conscious. I hope you enjoy Home Hill as much as I do!

Ayr is a bustling sugar cane township, with 4 sugar mills in the region. There is a large number of women's dress shops, variety stores, opportunity and secondhand stores, large supermarkets, car sales yards, agricultural machinery suppliers, and more!!
The township has a primary school and secondary schools, and a large infrastructure for a large agricultural community. Ayr is close to a large major city, Townsville, and has very attractive beaches and tourist attractions within the region.
