The apartment was perfect! It was perfectly clean and comfortable. We had air conditioning in both bedrooms that kept us cold all night! The kitchen had all the necessities and the living room was comfortable to relax in. The owners were waiting for us when we arrived and were exceptional! He even took us to the airport the next day!

Leticia is the city you will reach to start your Amazonas...
Leticia is the city you will reach to start your Amazonas adventures. We spent one night in town before we traveled up the river. After a long travel to reach Leticia, I would highly recommend spending a night or two in town before heading out on the river. There are lots of restaurants, bars, etc to explore in town.

There are plenty of police, soldiers, and coast guard.
We walked from the airport to our downtown hotel, but the sidewalks and roads are rough. There are many inexpensive taxis, tuk-tuks, and even moto taxis (motorcycles).
There are ATMs and currency exchanges, in case you want to go to the neighbour town in Brazil.

Leticia is a gateway for the Amazon so many people don't spend time here, myself included. But it would have been interesting to stay an extra day and visit Brazil, Peru which are both very close.
