Interesting town, felt very much like a frontier settlement.
Interesting town, felt very much like a frontier settlement. Tourist information bureau was very helpful. Lac st Jean is big! Excellent chocolate shop on south side of the lake on the road to Roberval. Stayed in Alma before heading down through Saguenay, stunning scenery, especially at Petit Saguenay quay.

The motel was behind a gas station/restaurant. The gas station had a comprehensive store within, the restaurant was ok.
The room itself was very nice, modern decor & clean enough. mine was in back, not facing the fairly busy road, so it was quiet with somewhat of a view of the fields behind.

Bought a pickup truck at one the the Ram dealership, sight unseen. I got such a good feeling from the people I spoke with that I was able to make this purchase without worry. Seems to be an indication that Alma is a great place and so much better than big city business. I would travel the 6 hours again.
