We arrived at Casa Buda after driving to Liberia from Tamarindo and spending the afternoon at Los Coyotes; it was the perfect place for our family of 4 to crash before catching our flight the next morning. The rental was clean, in a great location near the airport, and was a great value for the price. We appreciated the secure parking also.

I only visited coco beach, and I was there for 2 months.
I only visited coco beach, and I was there for 2 months. I loved walking on the beach everyday, and there are bars and restaurants all along the side of the beach, so at any point you can sit down and get some food or drinks.my favorite place is called Cocomar. I would get the pineappple pizza :) the music is good there too, and right next to the end of street to the main street.. Would also reccomend the indian restaurant in main street..

Liberia is a major transportation hub in northwestern Costa Rica. If you are going to or coming from Nicaragua, you will pass thru Liberia. Check out the Indian restaurant 'Masala' across from the 'old fortress'

We stayed at Hotel Velero right off the beach in Playa Hermosa. It was relatively quiet (in the best way!) compared to the neighboring Playa del Coco. The beach was clean, the sand was soft, and the temperature was great. We saw dolphins and great sea birds from breakfast at Hotel Velero. We also had dinner at Roberto's and La Casita del Marisco. I would highly recommend Playa Hermosa to everyone and would love to return!

Liberia is a good jumping off spot for the northern half of Costa Rica. It's worth spending a couple of nights there if you stay at Hotel Liberia which is downtown. Although Liberia itself doesn't offer much in the way of tourist attractions, it's a good central spot for some of the nearby parks.

The resort was nice, pool was refreshing. No premium drinks, a bottle of Crown was $90, and only 1 brand of beer. The food at the buffet wasn't the greatest. Fish was dry, salad dressings were odd or just oil and vinegar. One day I had a poached egg and the yolk was hard and the whites were runny. French toast was hard and tough on the outside and soggy on the middle. You could only eat in the specialty restaurants once for every 3 days of stay.

Hermosa is about 30 minutes from the Liberia airport. This is a less visited beach so you don't have the crowds of others. However, there is everything you need within walking distance.
La Casita del Marisco is our favorite sunset dinner spot in Costa Rica. We have stayed in Hermosa since 2016 (we lived in Monteverde for 5 years) and usually stay at Hotel El Velero on the beach. We use Hotel Mangaby as a backup, only a short walk to beach.

We planned organized day trips for our 5 days in Liberia and it was perfect. The various day trips pick up people from the coast and then pass through Liberia on their way to places like Arsenal volcano area, to see the sloths or other attractions and also for the single day trips to Nicaragua. By staying in Liberia we were the last to be picked up and the first to be dropped off, saving us 3 to 4 hours of extra travel in the van. Some off the people we met on our day trips were picked up at 4 am, we got picked up at 6 or 6:30 am, and then dropped off at 5 or 6 pm while the others drove back their coastal resort 1.5 to 2 hours further away from Liberia.

It’s a beautiful place if you’re looking to relax and enjoy sceneries. It’s very Humid there but, worth it. It’s not much of a party place if you’re looking for a younger crowd to hang out and have fun. Also, some of the excursions involve a lot of hiking. So, bring comfortable gym shoes or water shoes.

It is a nice small area to stay. Not too touristy. The beach was incredible.
Attended a wedding at Cafe Marisco, ate at Ginger. It was fun, pricey. Wonderful whole red snapper at Roberto's. Meals and drink, atmosphere at our hotel, El Velero were great.
Beach walking, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and taking a sunset catamaran tour we're the highlights.

The Hampton by Hilton (LIR) is what it is. It is an American chain hotel directly across from the airport. It was clean and safe. The rooms are S-M-A-L-L. Our party was two adults and two kids, and I'm glad we only stayed one night. Again, it was fine for a one-night stay, but don't expect to be blown away.

- Food at the restaruant what was very tasty, both breakfest and dinner
