Perfect stay, very cosy room. Really liked the breakfast (the shot of ginger etc was very much appreciated to wake up). The park nearby is beautiful and peaceful.

I was really surprised by the city, its beauty and the size...
I was really surprised by the city, its beauty and the size of it. I travelled there because of a metal festival (music), and I thought it would likely be a small city, but the location surprised me. Lots of historical streets that are well maintained, lots of green. Pretty city. I spent most of my time in the city centre. There were lots of cool restaurants and nice bars in the the area. We even found some that were open late. Very relaxed atmosphere. I really enjoyed my time there, so did my friends and my adult son.

Small cozy town that really seems beautiful.
Small cozy town that really seems beautiful. I find the old town and the castle one of sweet spots and if you rent a car, you can get to some really nice places around there. Town is clean and peaceful. It could be better lit at night.

Braunschweig gets overlooked, but the art gallery is the second largest in Europe after the Louvre. Would make a great stopover on the way to Berlin (direct motorway). Very reasonable and not overcrowded. Excursions to the VW works in Wolfsburg next door, or Wolfenbuettel (Lessinghaus, castle and library). The old inner German border crossing of Helmstedt Marienborn (monastery) would be another day trip, or the slightly further Harz mountains. Braunschweig was the capital city of a dukedom and therefore boasts a theatre and a swimming pool.
