Not far from the train station and safe walk along a few quiet streets. I had a good view of the Cathedral towers in the distance and balcony. I recommend the breakfast as they supply a good pot of coffee and good selection of warm Brotchen and cheese, meats, yoghurts and fruit. Good value. The owners are friendly and helpful. I would definitely book again.

breakfast was simple but they made up for it by offering the eggs ala carte, so my scrambled eggs were perfect. The coffee machine had fresh milk steamer. The bedrooms were large and the shower the biggest I have ever seen in a hotel. Very quiet outside, probably because it's just outside the city center, where we walked to in less than 10 minutes.

To be honest, we chose this town as a more cost-effective...

To be honest, we chose this town as a more cost-effective accommodation option compared to Quedlinburg, in the vicinity of which we planned to visit the Devil's Wall. However, there are also things to see in Halberstadt. One of the largest collections of church treasures is located here. As for the town itself, it has definitely seen better days; a little way from the center, one can encounter abandoned houses with broken windows and boarded-up doors here and there.

I should have planned less time only because I had been ill the week before. We saw the Dom although we did not see the fantastic treasury this time. Lovely Museums and some fantastic architecture. If by car there aare some fascinating museums dedicated to the now deceased DDR, castles and world heritage sites like Wernigerode and Quedlingburg. Driving through the ,mountains as they just start to change colour for autumn was spectacular as well

A wonderful city with a famous past and unfortunately...

A wonderful city with a famous past and unfortunately extensive destructions by bombing in April 1945, shortly before the war ended. The cathedrals, the museums and some of the carefully restored houses are very impressive.

I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening...

I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening, and left the next morning, staying at Hotel Sankt Florian near the Domplatz. That part of town was about dead at 8:30 PM when I checked in. Thank goodness, I picked up some chop suey at a China-Thai Imbiss on Magdeburg Strasse while walking to the hotel from the Bahnhof. The Domplatz and churches were lovely that evening. The next morning, two of the three major churches never opened, and I skipped the Cathedral because they wanted money to enter. I don't pay to enter houses of God. On the way back to the Bahnhof, I located the Tourist Information office and found it well and willingly tended. I walked to the Bahnhof, just to kill time before my train departed, although the Number 1 tram was easily available. I had a pleasant time in Halberstadt, saw enough of it to remember, but have no reason to return.

This is a charming hotel housed in a beautiful half-timbered building in the historic centre of Halberstadt. The room was very comfortable, the hotel’s own restaurant was an excellent choice for dinner, and the breakfast was perfectly satisfying.

Lovely hotel very attentive reception and breakfast staff. Very handy for the railway station. I had meal in the Bauhaus (hotel pub restaurant) last night which was really nice. Swimming pool is great with 3 Saunas/steam room.
