Due to a flight delay, we were forced to stay in Dusseldorf overnight. We booked a guest house and were pleasantly surprised. There is a very pleasant and calm atmosphere here, cleanliness, coziness and comfort. Polite and pleasant administrators with whom we were able to communicate over the telephone. Walking distance to the airport !!! It is a local community center with bar/restaurant and some rooms..We got upgraded to a privite room opposite the street, welcome drink.... hospitality of the management, humble pricing, super clean room.  Out of expectation, nice experience. Excellent for catching up an early flight.

Location and Transport

Germany’s third largest airport is located just over 4 miles (7 kilometres) from downtown Düsseldorf. The S7 and S11 trains run between Düsseldorf International Airport and the city, with journeys taking just over ten minutes. Another option is to take a bus, which arrive and depart in front of the main Arrivals hall.

Several hotels are located close to the airport, with one located directly above the airport’s P3 car park. At the airport you’ll find two observation platforms which offer the best views of the runway traffic. There’s also plenty of duty-free shops, places to eat and free WiFi throughout.

The airport’s three terminals (A, B and C) are all housed within the same building, with a SkyTrain shuttle operating every 4-7 minutes between the terminals and ‘Düsseldorf Flughafen’ railway station. When the SkyTrain is not operating, a bus transfer will be provided.

A nice and vibrant city. the weather was perfect for...

A nice and vibrant city. the weather was perfect for strolling and shopping at Königsallee. We were very surprised when visiting the Japanese Garden to encounter hundreds of dressed up people who were going to a special convention. Little Tokyo is a nice area to experience Asian Cuisine. Düsseldorf is a city I visit from time to time.

Ratingen has nice historic center with few restaurants and church in the middle. Overall, it is calm, but this area is populated mostly by industrial companies, warehouses, etc. Getting there is pretty hard from Dusseldorf, since buses are not going that often and you usually travel for around 45 minutes to 1 hour there. Trams are available which are the best way of transport from Ratingen to Dusseldorf.

Neuss was a nice place, to be honest, I still don´t know if it is the part of Dusseldorf or not. However, Neuss is at the bank of the river and pretty beautiful. I stayed with my wife and two kids, and had a wonderful time in there. I would go there again some time.

We went there to visit Dusseldorf and the Christmas Market, but we enjoyed the nearby nature and Neanderthal Museum much more. Especially the Museum is worth the trip with its complex and thought provoking exposition.

Dusseldorf has a lot of charm.

Dusseldorf has a lot of charm. The marketplace is a great spot to have a meal and mix with locals. Plenty to see and do but wandering is just pleasant. Walked everywhere and felt safe (despite some late Saturday night rowdy crowds!)

We needed a place close to the airport to sleep over for an early flight. The room met our needs, was clean and comfortable and had lovely restaurants in the area where we could have dinner. Check in and out was effortless.

The hotel was close to the River Rhine: there runs a lovely walk along the Rhine under mature trees, so it's shady and comfortable, with really nice views, it's inviting to sit and watch the ships go by, large meadow areas for children to play the town has all facilities, plenty of different shops in the pedestrianised road running from the station to the market square, restaurants, cafe's, ice cream parlours

I really like the culture of this city.

I really like the culture of this city. It is very energetic and full of life and enjoyment. If you get stuck somewhere, people are ready to help you. Yes, there is a language barrier, but they still try their best to assist you. The city is very beautiful and scenic, with a lot of impressive architecture. One very rare and admirable thing I noticed is that people genuinely enjoy riding bicycles. The public transport system is also very good. My first visit to this country was very much satisfied. i will visit this city again.

Great suburb of Dusseldorf with affordable hotels and a very good and and cheap connection to Dusseldorf city center. Just take the U72 from Ratingen Mitte to Düsseldorf Hellriegelstraße. Get out at the Düsseldorf Heinrich-Heine-Allee to be in the middle of the Altstadt & Konigsallee. Single trip for an adult is 2,80.

It's a small town away from the busy city centre of Dusseldorf. Its a town that is full of its own history and heritage. English not commonly spoken here but they will understand you. A town that is full of arts & culture such as "CLEMEN SELS MUSEUM & CHURCH"..if its something that you are looking for. Transportation coverage is quite good. A town that has both cultural and modern amenities to look for. Culturally; there are museums and famous old buildings that you can see. Modern...there are places that you can shop such as a mall and some shops that offer products at an affordable pricing. Bring your own bag to keep the stuff you bought as no bags are given for your purchase. Its very quiet on SUNDAYS with 90% of the shops and malls are closed. Just few eateries that is open and probably will be closed by about 4pm on sunday. Most days..the town will come alive around 10am and sleeps by 5pm. So plan your day there well. Do look out for the clock songs that will play in the afternoon. there are 2 buildings that has a clocks with bells that sings & rings. I tried some pastry at this "OEBEL CAFE". i tried the bacon&egg sandwich ...and its tasty. Just like any other city's or town that you go too; you got to be careful with your belongings.
