Everything was great. The resort is beautiful in a spot inside the trees. I loved it! The room was comfortable and very hot in the winter! It also had restaurant and cafe so you would spend all the time inside if you wanted!

Our upstairs room was very pleasant, beautifully situated in an orange grove, but with minimal amenities. The room is Spartan -- incredibly appropriate since it's located in Sparta. It's important to understand what you're NOT getting for the bargain price (24€/night for 2, late April). Location is 1.7 km from the center of Sparta. Internet access is not mentioned in the listing but you may overlook this since virtually every lodging provides it. It is clearly stated in the detailed listing of facilities. The agricultural neighborhood is very quiet and there's ample parking behind the manual gate. The room was quite good, airy, with a narrow balcony looking out over the grove. The double bed mattress was comfortable but not luxurious. If your mobility is at all limited or you have bulky luggage, consider asking for a different room at ground level. Our upstairs room was accessible only by a very narrow spiral staircase that is difficult to ascend, and almost impossible with a large suitcase. Note that access instructions are sent by email and were contrary to what appears in the booking confirmation ("Someone will meet you there."). This is not the property's fault but rather a flaw in the design of the app which fails to display a duplicate of the important email message.

Spring time is probably the best to visit, everything blossoms!
The road to Toriza is a bit difficult (especially in night hours) but this something you expect when you go up to a high altitude on a mountain.

Inclement weather and an unconsidered public holiday meant we only saw a fraction of what we had hoped to it what we did experience was worth the journey from Athens and we would return in a heartbeat. The scenery is spectacular and Mystras is amazing. Sparta’s archaeological museum is a hidden gem.

We spent two days at Mystras, wandering around the deserted village. Another day at Sparta, and then a day driving around the small villages. Mystras is a small settlement, not commercial, if you want commercial Greece don’t go there, if you like laid back Greece go there.

Sparti is a great town.
Sparti is a great town. We found a really great bar (Abbaeio) and ate well at The Mafia. The main purpose of our visit was to explore ancient/medieval Sparta and we were amazed how much there was to see.
Most people visit Sparti on the way to Mistra, but the town is well worth a visit in itself.

The archaeological site was fascinating.
The archaeological site was fascinating. We spent a half day there. There is enough remaining there that you can actually visualize what life must have been like. Bring water along. No bathroom facilities that we are aware of.

I was there for a family reunion.
I was there for a family reunion. Meet my Greek cousins for the first time. We had a good time. We'll be going back in a couple of years, still more to see. We'll go in a different season. August in a heat wave... not my cup of tea.
We also went to the Archaeological Museum in Sparta. Learned much. Glad we went as the Sparta exhibit at the National Archaelogical Museum in Athens was closed for updating.

Mystras: A Timeless Experience, Best Enjoyed in the Afternoon
I absolutely loved my time at Mystras. I actually visited twice: once in the afternoon, from about 3 PM until closing, and again the next morning. I have to say, the afternoon experience was far more enjoyable.
In the morning, the site was considerably more crowded with tourists, including several tour groups. The afternoon, however, offered a much more peaceful atmosphere with fewer people, allowing me to truly feel the serenity and unique ambiance of the place. Plus, the afternoon sun shining through the church windows onto the altar icons created a truly magical view. It's a sight I won't soon forget!
