Location is great - super close to the airport. The host is very kind and waited for us till we arrived at 10-11pm. The room was very comfortable and shared bathroom too, the whole place was very clean. The host ordered a taxi for us in advance which made our trip hassle free.

We stayed at a the Huayapam Yuu Lodge on the edge of the village, exceptional. An extraodinary setting with mountain views, gracious and helpful hosts, a real sense of tradition and authenticity, wonderful food, plants, hummingbirds -- it was a restful retreat and jumping off place for many fantastic day trips in the region, and just a taxi ride away to Oaxaca city. In future we'd like to explore the eco-park near town and eat at the XHEN Cocina de Humo Contemporánea restaurant, as well as take more time to explore the town and maybe catch the Easter procession (we heard plenty of practice fireworks and music in the distance). The Lodge was amazing!

The free walking tour was fabulous.
The free walking tour was fabulous. We were lucky to experience carnival parade 2 days in a row right in front of our hotel. If you tour Mount Alban and have issues doing high stairs, there is a gentle path to the right that will get you to the courtyard. We found the fees for an English guide very high $600. No English guide books available in the bookstore. Enjoyed the variety of markets. I probably book a hotel with a swimming pool next time as it was very hot 30+ The Templo de Santo Domingo was interesting with history. Just wish they had more signs in English as not everyone has a smart phone or a plan for their smart phone. I love how they are preserving the city. Considering returning for the day of the dead at some time.

It was quiet and there were many sitting areas on the grounds / pool area. I could easily walk around the village without having to rent a taxi though they certainly would have called me for one. The room was beautiful. I was there for a week while taking Spanish classes in the nearby school.

It is so colorful and beautiful to walk around in, and I felt a fear of missing out if I didnt explore it all!
The food was some of the best we had in all of Mexico, and people were welcoming and nice.
