even though this hotel is in the centre of town it was quiet at night. Staff was friendly, the place had a kind of old fashioned, worn at the edges charm. The most important things for us was having our pets in the room with us.

We used this town as an overnight stay on our way back to...

We used this town as an overnight stay on our way back to Tuxtla. The town council have gone to great lengths to improve the riverside walkway with a beautiful park filled with seating areas and delightful flowers and vegetation. People are not used to seeing visitors and we often heard ‘gringo’. The restaurant/cafe area is vibrant with lots of choice. Like all towns/cities there are run down areas too…. The contrast is quite stark.

I liked that it's a no frills regular Mexican town.

I liked that it's a no frills regular Mexican town. The Parque del Museo is very interesting, displaying Olmec finds amongst nature. I hope one day soon they close down the zoo inside the grounds though, there is no justification for keeping animals caged. The Lago de las illusiones, next to the Parque is nice to walk around. Be aware it contains crocodiles though!

Very nice city many old colonial-time buildings, do not miss the cathedral of senor de tabasco. Great food. It is a big city we used our car to get around and found good and free parking where required.
