Wonderful helpful host. I do not have enough words to describe how nice and helpful the host is. The island is very picturesque with a unique blend of North American landscape, and French architecture and customs. The apartment is equipped with all amenities, spacious and very well lit up. Huge TV in the bedroom. Ocean is within a stone throw distance. Nice waterfronts downtown. Lots of opportunities for morning walks along the ocean side.
Les Terrasses du Port has a fitness centre, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Saint-Pierre.

This place is great for someone who is ok with a 25 min walk to downtown. We brought our e-bikes and the owner provided us with a place to store them and charge them up! There is a patio that has a view of the ocean. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay.

The owner was available and gave his time to pick us up from the ferry and deliver us back when the time came to leave. He was very attentive to our needs.

Spacious room with shower and toilet. On first floor. Very comfortable bed. A 10 minute walk to the harbour and restaurants - only a slight non strenuous ncline on return. Plenty of power points in room. Stayed during start of winter and shower and room were both warm / hot. Coffee and croissants / jam and juice for breakfast between 7.30am - 10.00am. Excellent hosts from the unexpected collection at the airport until the end of my stay. Highly recommend.

The town is a wonderful slice of France off the coast of Newfoundland. It was easy to get around the town on foot, but the hills are slightly more than what we expected - on Google Maps it was flat - though this was not an issue in the scheme of things. The town is mostly laid out in a grid and waking to shops and restaurants was very easy.
There wasn't really an language issues as most folks speak English, but having some French in your pocket is definately helpful too. There were times when we used Google Translate to understand the controls on the kitchen and laundry appliance though!

We couldn't ask for better, we knew that our visit would be short but it was all worth it. First upon arriving in Fortune a little early for the ferry, it was recommended for us to drive to the lighthouse to look at the view, beautiful coastline.
The ferry ride going to Saint Pierre involved rough seas, but nothing the boat and crew members couldn't handle. Coming back whales were surfacing.
In Saint Pierre staying at Chez Marie Jo was great. From the time we booked, Marie-Josée did all she could to accommodate our stay. First took us for a one night stay although 2 nights is recommended. Then thinking ahead, she booked a dinner reservation at The Select which was great. The morning of departure from Chez Marie Jo, Marie-Josée had a breakfast prepared for us. A great opportunity for conversation.
She also could arrange a tour of the island if we wished to do so. But for the time we had we decided to walk around town and check out the different shops. There is a lot of history relating to the area to be discovered but we could have used more time.
Overall if the taught of going to France at such a close proximity to Canadian soil is appealing to you then go for it. A good opportunity to having your passport stamped and communicate using the French language.

We inadvertently showed on a holiday, our bad, nothing, I mean nothing was open on our one day stay. A very nice lady on our walk drove us to a little corner store off the beaten path that opened for a couple hours. the people we did meet seemed very nice. One of those bucket list things
