Breakfast was fantastic! Our hosts were exceptionally helpful and clearly looking to provide a fabulous experience - and they succeeded. Both rooms booked were excellent, clean, well decorated and great bathrooms. Cakes on arrival was a bonus and an honor bar well stocked. Bike storage was great.

Quiet, world away in the back courtyard. Great common areas to relax and lounge with a bottle of wine. The ladies preparing breakfast were all wonderful and spoiled us with a perfect breakfast.

We were actually not in Bering, but in a farm between Beringel and Beja: Herdade da Diabroria - Agroturismo.
The farm is situated close to many interesting places. With a car you would discover the region comfortably. If you are interested in agrotourism this place is for you!

The place is authentic and the castle perhaps the best in Portugal, not too big or overwhelming. Then there are the historic walls, a history lovers paradise. And don't forget the food, first rate. This is the "real" untouched Portugal.

Vila Alva is small village in the Alentejo region with a really nice dynamic and there is actually an active population living there, working there (unlike many other rural places in Portugal almost empty of population).

A rather small industrial town.
A rather small industrial town. Some restaurants (most of those are closed) or opens after 18:00 but menu in English is a rarity. Best option is to visit supermarket and cook some dinner in the villa.

More of a village than a town with quirky streets.
More of a village than a town with quirky streets. Very well located for touring this part of the Alentejo region; 25 miles from Evora and similar distance from Beja. Visit the dam near Alqueva for fabulous views of the Barragem de Alqueva.

First off, this is an agro-turismo -- by its very name -- so its location right along a reservoir, with fine vistas of grain fields and holm oaks in the distance, should surprise no one. And you get there by driving past long LONG rows of ultra-high-density olive plantings, a recent technology that allows machine harvesting of olives. The main business is clearly agriculture at a near-industrial scale. All fine and well! Much of the site is aimed toward the swimming pool, which was in use when we arrived by throngs of cavorting kids. I don't know if the reservoir is available for swimming, but its waters now are closeby.
There is no restaurant now (Spring 2023), although breakfast is offered in the common room and is pretty good (even including scrambled eggs, a welcome addition). Restaurants are not close, and on Sundays (and many Mondays) are closed, so bring food if you are there on those days. The room was acceptable, although the mini-split heating-cooling system was challenged -- and we were there in late April. I can just imagine what mid-July would be like! We enjoyed the stay and the scenery, and the staff (Sandra) was very helpful and spoke quite good English. The room decor -- a large painting showing the flower that gives the room its name -- was nice!

Beja is a wonderful city with the modern juxtaposed with the very old. It is nice to walk the old curving narrow streets of the old part of the city. The people make it great as they are open, warm and gracious. Many people speak English.

One of the ugliest towns I've visited in Portugal.
One of the ugliest towns I've visited in Portugal. Besides, plenty of "illegal-looking" foreign guys (you know what I mean), without face-masks, loitering around. Surroundings also flat and ugly. I definitely don't recommend this place.

Lovely village with lots of monuments, friendly people, local cafes and restaurants with good food, better to visit on a weekday when all stores are open and it's more lively but nice and quiet for a weekend.

My husband and I enjoyed the rural natural beauty surrounding the facility. The room was clean and spacious. Our only complaint is the dog pen at the entrance of this facility. There were 3 dogs, one big, one small, and one puppy. The pen was filthy with their feces. It seemed that it wasn't cleaned over a week.
