Bophut is a great alternative to the super touristy Chaweng and Lamai beaches. The Fisherman's Village is nice to have lunch in and the beach strip along the Wharf shopping centre is great. My favourite bar was Coco Tam's which had great cocktails and bean bags on the beach. Getting around Bophut on foot is easy - there is one main road so you shouldn't get lost, or you can walk along the beach. Tuktuk taxis will take you further distances, but I preferred the motorcycle taxi as I was travelling alone and they could do me a deal. While in Bophut I took a couple of day trips. Firstly a typical tour around the island. It was something good to do, but everything felt rather touristy. Beware of in humane elephant and monkey shows. I also spent a day in Chaweng which was a nice change, as the beach is beautiful, although a little polluted. Chaweng is probably fun to party in, but I preferred to get out of the neon lights and return back to Bophut for the evening.
Lots of good places to go - head to Lamai Beach if you fancy a day away from Chaweng, short taxi ride (about 300 Thai baht each way, for three people). Chaweng offers a good range of shopping, lots of accommodation, places to eat and of course plenty of places to chill and have a drink. Zico's was worth a visit for a meal if you fancy something away from Thai food but obviously a bit pricier too. Lots of nice places to eat seafood/meats BBQ style. Ark bar was a good place to visit day or night. Extensive food menu which was a bit alarming but food was good that we had!! Good vibe at night. Great walk along the beach with plenty of places to chill and have a drink, watch sunset. Good place to watch sunset was Cliff Bar and Grill, half way between Chaweng and Lamai (just a drink or food also). Loads of shopping available with the usual designer brands but a lot of repetition with shops. Good overall trip to Chaweng.
fisherman village but you need to take a taxi. We eat at different places. for lunch there is a local soup imbiss/restaurant about 300 m from the hotel(to the right direction Big Budha, crossing where Family markt and seven eleven marlets are. opposite side. two young girls/ladies selling zheir delicious soup. you can choose with chicken, beef or pork. next place with good food we found about 1 km further, across the street from ferry - older lady and man with 2 little dogs...unfortunatelly we forgot the name. food eas freshly made and delicious. in fisherman village there was a local market with great food. And pleanty of restaurants at the sea side. you need taxi or rent a moped.
Fisher mans village is a fab place! Beaches are beautiful and clean, shops and restaurants are amazing seafood to die for, fire shows on the beach at night lieing on bean bags cocktails music looking at the ocean doesn't get any better! Travelled all round koh samui but fisherman village is my favourite place to stay! The Hansar Hotel is a place to stay walking distance to all the night life with 5* accommodation fab beach loads of water sports ! It's The Place To Be !!!
Chaweng Beach.... Shopping paradise comes to mind with great food - especially seafood! The main shopping district is like any other in Thailand, busy, touristy, lots of people, music etc but it does offer u the opportunity to a huge selection of dresses & beach ware. There's a zillion bikinis but unfortunately most are too small in the bottoms or too big in the tops - come on Asia when are you going to sell seperates on swim ware! I, like everyone else shopped & had no trouble posting my 5 kg's back to Ozzy overland for 1500 Baht including insurance. Fingers crossed it makes it home 🙌🏻. There's a huge selection of everything & massage parlours are no exception. It's all based on personal choice of where yr massaged & price u pay but bartering is definitely a way of life here. Enjoy
Lots of choice for all types of dining, bars, shopping ,beach, easy access to all types of transport, days out, sightseeing, entertainment ,and more relaxed areas if you would prefer, although Chaweng is the busiest area of Samui by far. The Duke Bar was a family favourite for real English breakfast and i would recommend a burger there ! The whole island of Samui is a great place to explore, and i'd recommend getting out around the island to appreciate everything it has to offer.
